Saw different threads about videogames.. there seems to be a lot of gay gaymers out there. Any gay boardgamers?

Me and a couple friends get together on a regular basis for boardgame night and it`s a blast. Some of the recent favorite games are:
Ticket to ride (US version and Nordic Countries)
    Settlers of catan
    Game of thrones

I'm a bored gamer...meaning I'd rather be doing something outside than shooting pixels at pixels.

For those who like Monopoly, check out Monopoly Deal. Card game, but you still collect properties and have a bank..plus it's faster!

there's a group in toronto the Gay gaymers and they actually have their monthly boardgame night coming up on the 9th. It's a public event and a great way to meet other guys who like games. It's at the Gladday book shop on young too. though it is in the evening. I'll be teaching Marjong that night (no gambling just learning games) :p

Sounds fun, need to check it out. Just was reading on the best way to win Monopoly, what properties to buy, how to improve them to maximize your income. Who would have know there's more to the game than just a Ride on Reading Railroad and going to jail!

    Taboo is so much fun!
Monopoly hands down one of the best classic games ever!
Slightly off topic but there's this card game called Billionaire which I love lol.
Apples for apples is pretty fun too.
I enjoyed Cranium as well and Scategories, though I'm not sure if those are classified as board games.

When I was younger, I thought Guess Who was fun, lol sometimes just to keep my turn going for longer until I thought of something I'd ask really annoying questions like "do they have ears" haha since you would continue your turn as long as you kept getting "yes".

My boyfriend and I often play board games with out families:

    Munchkin (sibling favorite)
    Dominos (extended family favorite)
    Beans
    Apples to apples
Port noir (or something. It's a trading game)
    Jenga
    And a few others

They're good times. Clean, simple fun.

The bf and I recently joined a board game group that gets together every Sunday morning. I have really enjoyed it and played lots of new games and am looking forward to trying a lot more. My favorites are:

    Ticket To Ride Europe Edition
Arkham Horror (and all the expansion packs)
Power Grid (I especially like the North/South Korea version)
    Risk

I have always wanted to play Settlers Of Catan but have yet to. I find after playing Arkham Horror for years, the rules to most games are simple in comparison.

DnD always ends up being played on some sort of board/grid. Was in a game that had already been in-progress for 3 years, and played for another 4. REALLY long-term story arc... the DM had actually been in talks with a company to publish as a book. Wish it had come to fruition.

    This > Trivial Pursuit.

It says "for children and their parents", but the questions aren't dumbed down or anything. I used to love playing this.

    The classic, chess.

And yes, Catan. The scene of such peachy exchanges as:

    -Do you have any ore?
    -No, I only have 'and'.

yes, it`s actually a great game too.

No dice, not a lot of ''luck'' elements in it, which is great. It`s about strategy, and diplomacy.

Only crappy thing is that it`s best played with 6 players. A group of 6 is not always easy to organize, and for those who have never played, learning the rules can take quite a bit of time icon_smile.gif

Nice, i think Ottawa had a gay boardgames night last year, but it must not have been popular since it`s already stopped.

Latest game i bought was Ticket to ride Nordic countries. Fun game!

I like pretty much all types of games, not just strategy games..
    great site for games: http://www.boardgamegeek.com

I love board games especially Monopoly.

I haven't won a board game for some time now, because my mensa-iq exboyfriend always had to win...

also I'm not sure if someone already mentioned it, but Ubongo is a great one too
