I was assertive with someone tonight. Great build on this fellow (except for legs--I'm always tempted to ask Why Skip Leg Day?); we both got to the cable crossover machine at the same time. For me it's the only spot to do pull-ups (I use a weighted belt). For him, he planned to do triceps push-downs. There's literally six places to do that on this machine.

He motioned that he would need the space directly under the pull-up bar for his triceps push-downs, and I said, incredulously, "This whole space?"

He said, "Yes," so I insisted he go first. He literally backed four feet away from the pulley and did his push-downs directly under the pull-up bar. After he finished I did my first set of pull-ups.

Up walks another fellow, just passing through, hoping to slip in a set of pull-ups (it was crowded tonight). I motioned him in, and he did his set--which blocked the triceps guy. The look on triceps guy's face was fun--what? you're using my space? I said to triceps guy, "When it's crowded, I just do my push-downs that direction because the pulley swivels."

He said, "That makes sense," and proceeded to do his exercise NOT like a dumbass who needs the entire gym for his eensy weesy push-down.

This reminds me of a time when I went to a gym in Miami...I was using said machine to do weighted crunches and it was packed. The guy just did his pulls ups above me and kept his legs straight in front of him. Guess me being in the way wasn't going to stop him!

My pet peeve is when there are three frat guys using the same machine and stop to chat in between their sets to talk about which sorority girl they are going to smash next....lucky they are good to look at or I'd be actually mad

Ewww, I don't even walk back there. In fact, during the summer months I never use the locker room.

Guys who use the lockers instead of the coat racks. Last night there were probably 20 lockers - all unlocked - containing one coat each. With no free lockers left, people were bringing their junk out onto the floor.
