    I'm 6'1" too, and I'm 140lbs, but I'm probably not a great role model

You should reduce yourself to 5'11, 175. If you can't do that, you've got low self esteem.

You need to take into account your frame size. The website given above is one way of doing that. At 6 foot, you probably don't want to go much below 185, and you might well prefer staying up at 190 or above. A daily deficit of 500 calories (some combination of burning more calories than you are now and consuming fewer than you are now) will let you lose a pound a week, so in several months you'd be at that goal. You're not going to want to go faster, and you may well choose to go slower.

Fundamentally, pay more attention to how your clothes fit than what the scale says. If you do end up building muscle while you lose the fat, you could end up gaining weight while also slimming down, as muscle's about 4 times denser than fat.

At 6'1 you probably should be in the 185-195 lbs range, again going on your body type. But some aerobic exercise will help to lose the excess weight and tone you up.Best wishes,John.
