"The signers of the document are mostly out-of-office Republicans or former top officials...."

Nothing to lose any more. The ones in office are still beholden to the crackpots.

And the OP still tells us he votes for those who are beholden to those crackpots. And actually holds quite a few crackpot views himself. icon_razz.gif

    It's a start.

Now if the ones who signed the brief would just go out and kick some ass on this issue, maybe we'd get somewhere. icon_razz.gif

And my reason for going to CPAC.

For what reason? To be brainwashed into buying into all the anti-gay rhetoric, as in the past? You actually think it'll be any different than in the previous conventions?

Do you sit there quietly while gays are bashed? Then start cheering for unregulated gun access for everyone, everywhere, with few exceptions? And applaud for no taxes on the rich and corporations (which you are neither), while the Middle Class is left to bear the tax burden (which you actually are)?

Yeah, by all means go to CPAC, so your true radical Right Wing colors can be seen. Up corporations, down citizens! Tax the working class, exempt the wealthy class!

And when you're finished being a cheerleader for billionaires whose ranks you'll never join, what will you do then? Try to scrape together enough money to buy another vintage Pontiac, while they're riding around in Rolls Royce limousines, and cruising on their yachts at your expense?

Your blind dedication to the ultra-rich amazes me. I hope you get some kind of commission for your loyalty. But somehow I would rate you as being just a stupid sucker. Sorry, but dedicating yourself to making others rich at your expense isn't exactly how I would define a savy person. icon_razz.gif

Bob, sometimes / many times you're simply unhinged due to your hate or just completely fucking nuts. All I've got to say for this is better that I'm there than not versus folks just like you. " your true radical Right Wing colors" ..... give me a fucking break. Next it will be that I'm a "right wing plant" ... correct?

Really man ..... Just fuck yourself ...OK?

Maybe it's best you put me back on block because you sure as hell won't get an inch with me due to your vitriol and hate.

And btw, It's a 67 or 68 Impala SS 427 convertible that I'm after next. Some Pontiacs are getting real expensive

And no, he's absolutely nuts. If all they (CPAC) saw where 'Bobs" I wouldn't blame them for doing some hating. NOT the way to affect change.

When pushed against the wall, with nothing to justify your defense of anti-gay CPAC policies, you call me "nuts". A classic ad hominem argument.

Or is my fault that I mentioned your interest in Pontiac cars, which was your previous passion, but now you've switched to old Chevys? Yes, that changes the debate considerably. Let's have a badge-based rationale for our political positions. icon_rolleyes.gif

No, sorry, you yourself introduced your praise of CPAC, a political group with a publicly-avowed virulent anti-gay policy. You wanna attend that convention, and extol it, fine. But don't imagine it makes you exempt from valid criticism here, on a gay site.

And calling me nuts doesn't change a single fact. You're resorting to the low tactics of southbeach1500 when you do that. Do reconsider.

I like to chat with you about old cars, an interest of my own. But don't think your alliance with anti-gay political organizations gets you a free pass as a result.

"You're resorting to the low tactics of southbeach1500 when you do that"

And exactly what the fuck did you just do in your earlier post?

"your true radical Right Wing colors can be seen"

"But somehow I would rate you as being just a stupid sucker"

Who was that, your ghost writer?

"Or is my fault that I mentioned your interest in Pontiac cars, which was your previous passion, but now you've switched to old Chevys?"

I like many brands. Remember my interest in 58 - 62 Imperials and 1960 300F? And Iso Rivolta and Griffo? And Columbo 60 degree V-12 Ferraris? And F-block Fords especially 427s? And Leno's 1965 GT-350.

I'm very open minded to anything but hate, vitriol, ad hominem attacks and name calling.

Anyway, do me a GREAT big favor .... maybe its best that you just block me again.

No, this time I'm not gonna block you. I'm not gonna let you slide with your cheerful endorsements of anti-gay hate groups. Sorry, I'm gonna call you on them. Nothing in the way of personal attacks on you, I kinda like a guy who has a passion for old cars like I do, just pointing out the truth.

Now if you wanna distance yourself from these homophobic groups, all fine & dandy. But when you affiliate yourself with anti-gay hate groups, I'm gonna throw their hateful words in your face. Fair enough?

I mean, you go out of your way to tell us how you endorse them, so isn't it fair play to publish their anti-gay agendas and expose them for what they are? And if you aren't part of their gay bigotry, perhaps you need to step away from them. There's an old saying, that you're known by the company you keep. Wouldn't you agree? icon_biggrin.gif

Yep that a problem when posting from my phone.

OK one more then I really need leave. I just really do not care all that much. Its not in my top 20 list of concerns. You're all gay all day, I'm not. I have many many other interests other than sexual preference or whatever the PC correct term is these days. Sorry, you do not run my life or determine my priorities.

Of course I don't. Nor do you mine. Good gawd, do you think I wanna run your life? Really?

But I do want what's best for my gay brothers, and my lesbian sisters. Do you? Or do you just want what's best for you personally?

That may be the fundamental difference between us. Community welfare, versus selfish personal welfare, to the exclusion of others.

Well I fall on the community welfare side. Where do you fall? I think I already know, but you can speak for yourself.

"Well I fall on the community welfare side"

Provided that its the homosexual community?

"Or do you just want what's best for you personally"

"Community welfare, versus selfish personal welfare, to the exclusion of others.
    "

"I think I already know, but you can speak for yourself
    "

How so? If you do then why even bother discussing it?

I have many issues of interest from the death penalty (project innocence dot org), health care, elder issues, abortion, tax reform, immigration, reining in the EPA and Labor Dept, middle east, energy independence, keystone, cafe standards, decaying rust belt cities, federal debt, IP theft by China, the Detroit big 2 1/2, legalization of 'light' recreational drugs, the ridiculous piliferation of useless and unneeded law/regs every year to the point one can become a class A felon getting just out of bed in the morning, and the list goes on and on. Do we REALLY need one out of a hundred males in this country in prison? Do we really need to have an incarceration rate 4x of civilized western European countries? How many on death row in Texas? How many are really guilty? ( I actually had a really huge issue with George W Bush as Texas Gov., and this was it)

Which ones of the above are personal selfish issues? Death penalty? I haven't killed anyone yet. Abortion? I've done a real good job of staying away from Krispy Kreme. Recreational drugs? It's been 27 years for me since David Bowies 'Glass Spider Tour' concert at Anaheim stadium. Energy independance? I've been told that I make plenty of my own gas. Tax reform ... yes. EPA ... sorta.

I want what's in the long term best interests for all Americans, not just my gay sisters and lesbian brothers icon_wink.gif. I'm not a one trick pony nor am I so called "radical right winger" on all issues. You may well see the world through pink trifocals. I don't, but I do need trifocals.

(personal selfish issue) And I still want a 67 or 68 427 Impala SS convertible 4-speed. Is that butch or what?

It's not so surprising, and it is indeed very welcome.

I think what many have failed to understand is that legalizing marriage, like DADT, legalizing adoption, and passing ENDA, is actually a conservative project. It is so, because it does not question the legitimacy of the mainstream heterosexual society and its institutions—institutions that are deeply oppressive—it merely asks that gay people be granted access on an equal footing.

To be sure, I have fought for them and will continue to do so, and I'm very very glad that one by one they're coming true. But the true progressive—one who really cherishes liberty—must question the validity of the things we've been granted access to. And, more importantly, who is still left outside the door...
