Christie is far from a gay-sympathetic governor. Not sure if this is a case of "even a stopped clock is right twice a day" or not! icon_eek.gif

^ He is also far from a "gay-hostile" governor, despite what I have read many on here post about him.

exactly, dude could have legalized gay marriage in the jerz but opted not to saying he'll veto it. heard that this judge last week shut down the effort once again when garden state equality went to court to appeal. icon_sad.gif it's frustrating. dude isn't a good governor at all. he has a likeable personality but he hasn't done a good job @ all. you have pennsylvania progressing with it. delaware, new york and connecticut have it in full spring while we're still rolling with "civil unions" on some separate but equal bullshit. icon_mad.gif

You can thank Obama for the "separate but equal bullshit." He and the Democrats could have made gay marriage legal across the nation but they didn't. Obama thinks that each state should decide for themselves.

icon_rolleyes.gif uhh.... if that's the case, then it still falls back to chris christie. he doesn't want gay marriage to be legalized in new jersey EVEN if the assembly voted yes for it. he said that he would veto such a bill.

Yep, and why are individual states being given the opportunity to decide on what is a basic human right? Because Obama and the Democrats talk the talk when it comes to the gays because they need those "progressive" votes as well as the gay vote, but when they had the ability to actually do something about it, they didn't.

Thank God. Gay Reparation Therapy has been a huge drag on the New Jersey economy. It has weakened infrastructure, made our streets unsafe, raised pollution levels to historic highs, and has contributed to our out-of-control pension benefit liabilities and budget deficit.

apparently, you don't understand how this country operates. states do have the right to govern themselves. it's been like that forever. you just don't like obama. obama wasn't the one that started that shit. if you KNEW what you were talking about, you'd know that.

I voted for Obama because I liked him. But he disappointed me when he finished changing his mind on gay marriage and all he did was punt. Civil rights in the 60s weren't decided on a state by state basis. Gay rights shouldn't be either and Obama knows that, but either he really doesn't think gays should be able to get married or he was too afraid that making it the law of the land in his first term would hurt HIS chances at a 2nd term.

From everything I've read he has said unequivocally that he will veto or refuse to sign into law any gay marriage legislation for his state. While I'm not sure what the intent of the original comment was, I haven't seen much written about him (other than his possible presidential aspirations) that gives me an understanding of him as gay-interested or pro-gay. Now those who know me know that the likelihood that I'd ever WANT to get married (much less be asked) is virtually nil . . . but I strongly feel we should have the right, and Governor Christi's position puts him as a negative on my sheet.

For the most part I disagree with Christie's politics, but I do applaud him for making the right choice in this case.

I mean, i'd rather be living here in New Jersey than Russia. but let's be honest, the only reason why Christie banned conversion therapy in NJ is to make himself more appealing for a 2016 presidential bid. dude is not down with the gay.

That's true. Obama should have told the Supreme Court to rule in the DOMA and Prop 8 case that gay marriage is okay. Assert state will upon the people like the socialist liberal secret muslin that he is.icon_rolleyes.gif

This would be a good place to insert "tyranny of the minority".

No. Democrats controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency the first 2 years of the Obama admin. All they had to do was repeal DOMA and put "gay-equal-rights" legislation in place. They didn't.
