What makes a Christian? Is it just professing to be one, or is it actually a lifestyle that one needs to live?

I am Christian and gay. I believe that the God I serve is a simple God people tend to over complicate Christianity. God gives us the ten commandments, which are pretty much standard, we all know the things that God says are wrong are wrong. However that being said Jesus was sent by God but he never judged anyone all He ever did was love and accept those around showing them which morals and values to live by. I feel Jesus never had a problem with men being gay just the lifestyles they lived! I for one can live a lifestyle that stays true to the values and morals the Bible shows us to follow. It is my textbook to life. A life full of love, acceptance, patience, truth, compassion ect. I lose nothing from following it!

A new inner birth from death to life of the Spirit with the backing of it with loving your neighbor as yourself, all the laws and prophets hang on this, Paul said if you do that, you do good.

I think whether or not you are truly a Christian is not entirely up to choice. You discover it as a part of yourself. You can't really weigh out the pros and cons and choose to fall in love with Jesus, it just chooses you. Which also makes things difficult for people who don't know how to reconcile being gay with the image of God that is presented by most churches/other Christians these days.

Professing your faith, and living the lifestyle according to it are all just side effects that start when you fall in love with Him.

And you'll never lose anything because, following those will only makes you richer ...

Obviously it's the lifestyle that one who has faith in Christianity needs to live in...
Professing doesn't make you a christian!
Professing is like planting a seed...but, following the lifestyle includes not only planting but also watering, nurturing and caring; & only then the seed that you planted grows into a fully grown tree and provides food and shade to many!

I have the same feeling as Gandhi has on Christians.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
