And if so, have you experimented and found any awesome hairstyles you've been able to do? I cut my own and am happy with it, but I would like ideas for future hairstyles if I decide to change it up a bit.

I cut my own ... what I worry about is the difference between cutting it so it looks like a masculine or feminine hair cut

I do. I bought a set of Wahl clippers about 2+ years ago for about $70 and haven't paid for a haircut since.

Check out the Onision vid for tips.

I've been cutting my own hair for 50 years. Got frustrated with barbers who wouldn't honor what a teenager wanted, they'd cut my hair the way they wanted, all slicked down with Brylcreem. I couldn't rush home fast enough to wash it all out. icon_razz.gif

Wasn't real good at first, often butchered my hair. But eventually got it right with trial & error. Sometimes used Army barbers when I had to have a regulation "promotion" haircut for a formal photo portrait, but have mostly cut my own hair since I was about 14. And I cut my husband's hair, too. Saves us several hundred dollars a year. icon_biggrin.gif

I buzz mine with the same trimmer I use for my beard.

Normally I just go outside, bend over and run the trimmer all over by head with the same guide comb; works wonders.

Though I am lucky enough to have a naturally styled hair; I've got one of those cowlicks on my forehead that makes my hair sand straight up, no matter what I do, so styling is a nonissue.

Hair gels and such I never use, total waste and they make my head feel weird.

I have a some clippers and a pair of scissors so I cut my hair about every 2 weeks. At first it took me forever especially the back of my head but now i can do it pretty fast.

Unless you're shaving it close where literally you cannot style it or it's jus buzzed or go totally bald...you should really get it cut by a barber.

I always have to shake my head with bewilderment whenever someone who has a full head of hair says they'll just cut it themselves to save $20. It's like, really? Really? THAT cheap?

Now I know you all are going to be amazed at my skills, but I cut my own hair too. Can't go wrong with a buzz.

I cut mine every 1-2 weeks. Nothing fancy at all...just cut it down to the same length all over with the 2nd closest blade.

Corejock..?? You are 20 and handsome try new things...

..It wouldn't hurt to pay a pro to buzz you sometimes..
Are you truly happy with your cut..or are you happy with the fact that you gave yourself a decent cut..and saved tons of dough???

Try a stylist once in a while.. A positive external perspective is good for you sometimes icon_biggrin.gif

I'm an art major so I enjoy being creative and cutting my hair regardless of it saving money. Before you judge someone you should really think about other peoples alternatives/viewpoints of the situation haha. Plus if someone can cut their full head of hair well, I don't see why it would be a problem. Just saying. icon_smile.gif

My dad gets his hair cut once a week. Smart clips charges $11 per cut. In one month, that's #44, in one year its $572. Some stylists cost 10 times more....shit adds up.

I bought a fairly cheap trimmer($20 or so), cut my hair about the same as he gets his, every 2-3 weeks.

I also know a guy who does a really nice cut and style himself, all he does is use a home trimmer, some scissors and a mirror.
