Dude ...... You do realize that hospitals here in America cannot afford to stay open anymore.....

You DO understand that don't you?

That people especially in major metro areas come into the ER as their main area of healthcare because they HAVE NO HEALTHCARE INSURANCE
and come in with severe Health Crises
because they wait until they are in severe distress
and BECAUSE these ER's are the safety net for these people they must treat them............ unless we do something these people will die

...... Oh I forgot that's what got you applause at the republican national convention icon_rolleyes.gif

From another ridiculous republican post ..... the turd is there right in front of you

You do realize that Hospitals pay their executives millions of dollars to run their non-profit hospital.

And that not all hospitals in the US cannot afford to stay open, most of them are making profit, and huge profits. In fact, some of them have profit margins in the 30%. So for every dollar they bring in, 30% goes to profit, that they dont pay taxes on for the "good" they do to the community (yea, by forcing people into bankruptcy.)

You would be surprised how little of the hospital bill actually goes to real costs and the doctors. Most of them are paying the executives to run it like a for profit business while masquerading as a non profit institution.

    It sickens me.

Yep - if you want to get a pretty good non-partisan look at the cost hospitals charge, what doctors get and why, here's a pretty good series of videos and referenced facts:

Yea that has some of it, but Drs arent the issue. Truth be told, they really dont care about the money but usually patient health.

The issue is the fact that all hospitals are rapidly expanding, charging patients to pay for the expansion, despite the fact that there are more hospital beds in the United States than there are citizens to fill it.

It is a disgusting shameful practice that needs to be in the government control immediately. You cant fuck it up more than the private sector has. They have absolutely raped and pillaged any dignity within the industry.

No doctors aren't the issue - hospitals are, insurers are, the lack of transparency is, and the regulations that have created the system that puts the economic power in the hands of employers and HMOs are - it's already largely in the hands of government (Medicare is the largest payor), and if you look at that one report from the doctor, he points out specifically some of the issues in the system.

The way that the system has been set up for hospitals to stay alive is to expand and put more and more money into competition for the remaining money making ventures that they can
Expensive things like the most expensive Cancer care centers
    or Orthopedic suites
    or expensive diagnostics
it's the Arms race ... in medical terms

and JUST LIKE you said .... Government needs to step in

The private sector is not equipped to deal with healthcare.... unless you are OK with certain people dying

And alas Tiger, it's too bad you no longer have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of the NHS.
