I always see the funniest stuff unintentionally...for instance one time I watched this older lady at a store in her sports bra (saggy tits and all) pull her money out of her bra and hand it to the cashier. icon_eek.gif

I've people watched before. I have to be extremely bored to do it, though.

Someone staring at me in a mall = me saying; "What the fuck are you looking at?!" and you scurrying away. I don't exist for your entartainment because you have no life.

I love people watching. This is why I take the bus, the Muni, street cars, cable cars, the BART, the Metro, MARTA, SoundTransit, United and any other form of public transport.

People are the most fascinating works of art. Thank God.

The best place to do it is at the airport, especially, across from the security screening line.

When I was in the Disney college program, one of my fav places to people watch was at the theme parks. You will see families and couples go stupid on each other. And all different kinds of nationalities too!

I don't like it and usually end up going to them and bluntly asking them. "What the hell are you looking at?"

I love it but mainly for fashion ideas. I like checking out what people are wearing and it can be very inspiring. Much more than say the stuff you see in fashion mags.

Summer is a good time to people watch when you want some eye candy obviously. Gorgeous guys in shorts is never a bad thing icon_wink.gif

Good point on the fashion ideas. It makes you think on what you can wear and what type of clothing you need to avoid.

Yeah, used to like to do it with a friend, but but tire of anymore than an anecdote or ice breaker.

Some of you guys are mistaking 'staring' for 'people watching'.
In the first one, you keep your eyes on someone in particular much to their discomfort....or like a madman would. Usually resulting in a scene involving cursing or fisticuffs.

For the second one, you watch people in general in a given setting like a mall or airport terminal and when you see something odd (like the above mentioned sports bra thing) you watch a little more closely.

Or, if bored, you can make up scenarios: "That guy with the briefcase, talking furtively on his phone, is arranging a rendezvous with his wife's tennis pro for a quickie.."
or "he's planning to leave his job with Sprint and take it's secrets to Samsung....."

StudlyScrewRi, thanks for distinguishing the difference between "people watching" and "staring" bro. Staring at someone is more straight forward and creepy, but "people watching" is more discreet. haha

I think its something I really have to focus on doing... I can also be just the opposite. I've had instances where I'm the one being watched, rather than vice versa.

I find it rather entertaining! When work is slow it is what I do I stop and watch people interact with each other. Some of the most interesting things can be said among friends in public places (when I am close enough to catch what they are saying).

I love people watching, especially when it's a place where you can hear the people speaking a lot of different languages.
