OK, so I'm in an amazing relationship with a Man who loves me so much, but lately (and actually since I can remember) I've had body issues. I've always been on the smaller side (5ft8 and 145lb) a few years ago I gained about 20 lbs and looked amazing. Its so difficult for me to put on weight and maybe I need to resign myself to the fact that this is my natural frame...I'm in college have a senior position in a magazine, amazing friends but this is the one part of my life that I am NEVER EVER happy with, any tips or comments guys. Also every time I come on R.J I feel completely inadequate because you ALL look like savage hot male porn stars ! Maybe I should delete my account ;-)

You look great man! Most of the time, super skinny isn't as attractive to some.

Personally, my rule of thumb is..

If you wear youth sizes, you're too skinny

If you're face is skeletal, you're safe

If you starve yourself, you've got a problem.

Just don't be like some of my friends that are 5'7 and weigh 120-130 pounds and have the "death camp" abs

You know I always felt the same way, I'm naturally small as well and no matter how hard I do weights i can't seem to past 141 lbs and at 5'8 that should be average for my bmi. Though I can't help but compare myself to these gargantuan giants here in RJ icon_confused.gif

I'm 5'6 and 125lbs. I'm small. I'm trying to gain weight but I just can't seem to. You're tall to me haha. I should really look into getting a trainer or something, I used to have one who was super awesome and seemed dedicated towards making me stronger. But that was for swim. Maybe I'll get one this summer.

When I was 30, I was 135lbs - I'm 5'10" - now about 175, but have been as much as 205 - crazy how things change as you get older.

Sometimes I feel too skiny too BUT!! that's usually only when I compare myself to other guys who have amazing bodies. I'm 5'10" and weigh 136 but I don't look bony (at least I don't think. o.O!), I'm healthy and active so I have no complaints~ You look fine though O.P. so don't worry and just keep doing what you're doing. icon_smile.gif

It's a struggle, for me at least. I'm skinny, too. Sometimes, I do find guys that I like... Thing is they're not into skinny guys. I try my best to gain weight, but high metabolism plays a huge role. Some days I feel like I'm on 7th cloud, other days I feel like it's a curse rather than what everyone says about me "wish I could have your body" etc.

If you are naturally slim or skinny then you are fine. It is only when an eating disorder is present that it is of great concern.

    Dazz...you look great..
..Remember when you get older your body will change.. I was the same way younger until age 32..then the reverse...
..Aprectiate your body for what it is and make healthy, educated improvements as you see fit.

.. I think you just need some lovin'.. (cheer up)

    OK..I'm confused here.
First off, yes you look too skinny in your pics. But here's what I'm confused about. You said you were 145 at 5'8" (Yikes...that's really thin.) But you gained 20 lbs! That was great! 165 at 5'8" is not bad at all!! Congrats on the hard work! So why are you now at only 150? And why are you really complaining and contemplating deleting your account?
Put the weight back on! It's not rocket science. Lift AND eat!
If you really did add 20lbs of muscle, gaining it back is 10 times easier then the first time.
Stick with it. And don't delete your account. There are a ton of really built guys here who know what they're talking about. Ask them questions.
    Good luck.

Well Tristan..I had a trainer the last time I got bigger..I'm now a student and cant really afford to eat 10 times a day ;-) The reason I said delete my account is to stop looking at a body type I migjt not achieve. Like girls looking at unrealistic photoshoped magazine models :-)

Most of my clients are guys who have trouble gaining weight. Maybe in about 6-7 months I will have a website where I will do skype consults. I don't have time now though because I'm full-time interning + assignments + clients.

Honestly it really comes down to you guys aren't eating enough calories. Try eating consistent meals throughout the day and adding a weight gainer product, which are basically 500-1000 extra Calories in a serving.

I would mention natural ways to do this with food, but that's beyond the scope of my post.

If you want, go see a registered dietitian. No other health professional (some personal trainers have nutrition backgrounds, but most don't) knows the technical aspects of weight gain. You'll spend like 70-150$, but that's better than working with a personal trainer who lacks any formal nutrition education.

Weight gain is nutrition, not exercise.
