Gin Martini with an olive. Well stirred, very cold, up. And for goodness sake, use more than one or two drops of vermouth. Do not confuse it with its popular but flavorless cousin, the Vodka Martini.

Perfect Manhattan. Well stirred, very cold, up. And, yes, it follows a specific recipe; you must use both dry and sweet vermouth and don't forget the bitters.

Godmother. That is, vodka and amaretto on the rocks. A bit sweet.

Finally, there's something I call the Vodka Rose. First, you must prepare a syrup for a traditional Turkish drink called gul sherbeti, You use sugar, water, lemon juice, and rose water. You later combine it with vodka and serve it on the rocks. Very nice.

White Russians are the best...close second is the delectable Sex on the Pool Table (sort of like the beach, except midori melon liqueur is used instead of peach schnapps)

Chambord Martini ..... Rim (hehe I said rim) the glass with lemon and dip lightly in sugar. One part Chambord and two parts very cold vodka, two parts shaved ice. Shake ingredients and pour into glass .... enjoy.

Sounds good! I'll have to try one! I'm a big Cosmo fan, especially when it's made "right"...not too sweet but lots of flavor!

I also like an orange Stoli on the rocks.

Usually tequila-based, but I sometimes opt for a vodka gimlet (tequila gimlets are yum, too). And any margarita has to be on-the-rocks. icon_smile.gif

Lately, I've been barrel aging martinis, Manhattans, and negronis. I've also experimented with different types of bitters with the Manhattans...chocolate and cherry bitters are the best.

It's turned me into a big fan of Negronis. I order them at bars now and the last two times, every time the bartender made the drink and poured it, someone asked what it was and both times the bartender replied, "It's an acquired taste."

Equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and Campari. Yum.

Depends on my mood, and the location, my go to drink is a bourbon , rocks. I admit, I let it melt a little to take the edge off.

If I feel like I want something different I will get a gin martini, shaken, dry, 4 olives.

I will have wine if I'm having a dinner, a California cabernet is what I usually look for.

    vodka tonic.

does the job. just limey enough to cut the vodka. not super sweet/calorically loaded... perfect drink

I just noticed something. Cocktail is likely the gayest word in the English language.

    Cock and Tail....

    Come on people...

    Sorry for the derail.

    Carry on.

Edit: I just saw Thom's post. lol....

I don't think I could stomach this. But what the heck, why don't you just use moonshine stead of Jack Daniels?
