Prop 8 in California may pass

    Take Action

Their ads and lies are working.

Today we learned of the massive $25.4 million our opponents have raised so far. They are using this war chest to broadcast lies: 24/7 and up and down the state of California. I can not believe that we have only raised $15.8 million. We spend more money creating Pride, The White Party and Folsom! Come on guys!

And the polls show the lies are working. We are now four points behind and the latest polls show that 47% of voters will most likely vote in favor of this proposition.

Please all of us should be voting NO on this prop and we should all be making a donation at

Thank you for making a contribution to close the fundraising gap and to get our message on the air.

Yes, this is serious news. I just made a donation the other day and a friend whose birthday is next weekend is asking people to donate to No on 8 in lieu of gifts, so I'll be donating more. Money is tight, but this is important.

We need to turn this around. The Mormon Church is throwing a lot of money at this and airing a lot of ads filled with lies and distortions that people are falling for.

    Donate now if you can!!!

US politics often boils down to money. Especially when the pro-8 forces are bombarding voters with false claims & scare tactics. The proof is in the polls, which have seen a sudden shift since all this Mormon & Repub money poured in.

If it can work for them, why would it not work for us? And that takes money.

The fact of the matter is that most the people who show up to vote never read the initiatives before the vote. They rely on what they have heard in TV ads or what their friends and family have told them about that proposition. That is why it is so important to have the money to make the commercials. It is not just to have one more commercial, it is a tool to educate and to inform. We do not need to convince the gay population of this, we need to convince all those who do not know what is going on or have made their mind based on false ideas. That is why we need the money to help raise awareness and educate people on the issue before they go to vote.

Koz, the fact of the matter is that polls were doing fine before ads hit the air. Polls were in our favor. Our ads hit the air first. But now the Mormon Church and others are pouring money into ads that are misrepresenting the proposition: saying among other things, that churches could lose their tax exempt status, etc.

The ad is doing the job. It's scaring people, particularly influencing younger voters to change their vote in favor of the measure. We need to get the truth out there. That takes money. They can't just let these negative ads go unanswered.
