I'm out this year from a shoulder injury, but my friends at CrossFit Chicago are, and I'll be in the audience.

You and I had similar PRs in Clean and Jerk. Mine was 205 (body weight), but now with my labral tear I may never be able to lock out my elbow. We'll see. I'm pretty stubborn and like to beat my body into submission sometimes when we don't see eye-to-eye. icon_razz.gif

I don't compete...well, unless you count jerking off to the hot shirtless guys as participating...

If you do, then yes. I also "participate" in UFC as well.

I'm not competing but I'm def participating. It's fun to keep track and see how you stack up against others in the same region icon_smile.gif

I'm hoping for the "manimal" to go all the way!

I'm signed up. My gym wants us all to be in it, do the WODs, and enter them, even if we aren't competitive. So I'm doing it, even though I don't think I have any chance to go on to the next level. Last year, I did them, but without signing up. Definitely a good series of workouts in any case.

We'll probably do the open. No chance in getting to the games. We still have a long way to go for that. Fun to participate, though.

I got a few more months of feeling confident in my form and upping my PR. Many from my box are...next time for me.

Don't have time to do the Open properly anymore, as I have classes from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. I would only compete if I had a legitimate chance to make it to regionals. However, I have a ton of old CF buds that are doing it and I'm excited for them. Can't wait to watch the Games as well.

How on earth did he do that? It's hard to imagine any lift (crossfit or otherwise) gone wrong resulting in that position. Backsquat maybe? But even then, the feet so neatly hooked under the bar? I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this was staged?

    It's fake.

Not competing online, but I'll (probably) do each of the workouts. I'm not a fan of a lot of the stuff CF expects people to do in their workouts....and I'm an affiliate owner.

Would love to compete one day. Focusing on getting my technique right first on some of the Olympic lifts.

You got a point there, Beast. Last year almost everyone, including myself, at our box died during the second WOD, which was

Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
    75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
    135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
    165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible

I barely got a few of the 135 pound snatches in; I have never been able to do 165. Embarassing, but so be it.

    Damn that is intense Whipmagic.

Snatch is by far my worse one too. icon_sad.gif

I'd rather say that my snatch needs work - pun fully intended!

Ugh! This brought back memories! I hate snatches!

And yes, I am in for the Open Wods. Its just for fun... icon_smile.gif And judging for my box as well....

Just did a wod at our box-- modified from last year's first wod... Instead of 7mins amrap Burpees, it was 7mins amrap 10 hand released Burpees and 30 double unders. Fun!

    Cheers

I've been doing Crossfit for 3 years how. Did the open last year and tore my shoulder in the CTB/Thruster sequence. I was far too tight to do it well. Meh. Learned my lesson.

I'm not perfect, and nor should I be. Or at least that's my philosophy. If requiring a six pack and no body fat makes me worthy enough for someone to say hi to, then I'm not interested in their hello. icon_smile.gif

I do CF to waste my energy and testosterone since I work too many hours and have a hubby who travels most of the time. Crossfit keeps me out of trouble even if I'm modifying WODs for the past few months. Hehe

I'm doing it again this year. Our gym schedules the workouts anyway and it's a great way to gauge your progress - just a bigger white board as far as I'm concerned. My goal is top 25-30 percent in my section.

And, I'll predict that NHsports makes regionals.

Here it is - WOD 13.1:

    17 minute AMRAP of:
    40 Burpees
    30 Snatch, 75 / 45 lbs
    30 Burpees
    30 Snatch, 135 / 75 lbs
    20 Burpees
    30 Snatch, 165 / 100 lbs
    10 burpees
    Max rep Snatch, 210 / 120 lbs

Good luck to all RJers who participate.

Pretty tough workout...last year people going pretty hard got just over 100 burpees in 7 minutes. This won't leave much time for the snatches. I'm guessing most people make it half way through 135lbs and that a really good, but sub-elite score, is 150 reps.

100 Burpees? Ughhhh. Guess I won't be in the CrossFit Open anytime soon. icon_redface.gif They're the one thing I hate about CrossFit. icon_neutral.gif
