Doesn't look too convincing. Sounds like the they are most interested in taxing gay couples the same as straight couples, but not give gays the same rights and benefits. Nevertheless, its good that they are at least talking openly about homosexuality.

Once again a great post. This sounds like taxation without all of the legal benefits of marriage. At least the same-sex couples can adopt their partner's children. This is a big step and can lead to other steps on the way to full equality.

All pre election jitters. Nothing will change before the elections in September and every pro-gay statement will be long forgotten afterwards.

Remember, the C in CDU stands for Christian, and nothing liberal/progressive ever comes out of organizations bearing THAT in their name. The high court in Germany will have to drag them kicking and screaming all the way.

Unless the Social Democrats rise to power, which is unlikely, considering how well Germany sailed through the economic disasters of the last 5 years.
