It figures you'd think that. For a Canadian you sure don't get it. Some things supercede political affilliations.
Good god save us from the Riddiosity.

And as much as that may be so (which apparently isn't the case, but why quibble?), you don't seem to understand the term "strange bedfellows". So keep clowning icon_wink.gif

Actually, knowing Paul's Libertarian leanings it's not strange at all. This particular type of topic is truly a bipartisan issue. Despite what appears to a rift too wide that it can never be bridged, there are many issues that those on the left and the right feel the same. I am surprised that you would not think that the American government killing American citizens on American soil would have opponents from all walks of life.

do you think that little of the left?

Oh but I am - are you really so myopic? Do please use a dictionary. Please think like someone who has an education instead of one who does not icon_wink.gif

The anti-war left has been largely absent under the Obama Administration. Look how the left abandoned Cindy Sheehan. This is one issue which they agree on - I would bet that the bank bailouts are another - which is why it was always thought of as odd when occupy and tea partiers found agreement. That still makes them strange bedfellows - a term that's often used to describe opponents who work together on one common issue.

Heh - in your attempt to troll you once again show that you would be best leaving it to others who are far better at it. I mean as is your prerogative, you make stuff up as it suits you. You have little to no understanding of finance or economics as you repeatedly show on these forums. Was there anything you were once competent at?

Honestly, I am quite bothered that a Canadian (no offense to all of you boys up there) is trying to further the divide in our country. It's a blatant attack to those of us who are trying to move forward with what he have before us, blue, red and purple. If I were not such a nice person I would tell him to shut the fuck up and mind his own business but I won't.

With all due respect, if you are bothered by that particular Canadian, you should be equally bothered by other Canadians and others, especially some from the UK, who spew divisiveness more strongly. Main difference is they are from the left.

We're talking about Canadian here Top, and to help you understand better I'll give you a joke about Canadians.

'why did the Canadian cross the road?'

'to get to the middle (or median if you prefer)'

Canadians are much less likely to ideologically 'marry' themselves to a Party til 'death do us part'. Many understand that no Party is perfect, and that all have something to bring to the table. That politics can be shoved aside in the blink of an eye for something that affects all of us.

Oh, I am still relatively new to this section of the forums. This particular Canadian I am referring to has on 1 day, attacked the Affordable Care Act which will release millions of Americans from the shackles of the insurance industry. We, myself included, will finally have my chance at the American dream. I view his attacks on "Obamacare" as a personal attack. This is my life and my future he is playing partisan politics with of which he has no rightful place or voice. These are not just words or a debate, this is real.

and then today, his surprise that those of us on the left are not above politics to give brief respect to a lightening politician because we have the same view. Governments should not be killing their own citizens. Plus he is obviously oblivious to many on the left who have been holding the president accountable for any and all non-progressive decisions he is making. He is receiving no free pass..

so, yeah, this particular Canadian is getting on my nerves, personally. As for the others, when I cross their paths I will take the same attitude. I live in Jacksonville, Florida. A city with more democrats than republicans, a democratic mayor but a heavily republican represented city council. A city that has been voting red in state and federal elections, one of the last strongholds in the ever-changing state of Florida, who is still wearing it's nice new color of purple. I usually don't take kindly to outsiders who will no reap the benefits or suffer the consequences being so verbal. of course that should be expected from someone on the left, you know the side that is against Citizens United and foreign corporations/countries buying our elections.

Here's the problem - Obamacare was poorly written. You don't have to be a Democrat or a Republican to observe that simple fact. There are numerous fatal flaws - and they don't address the underlying problem of cost control. Governments should not kill their own citizens. I agree - I agree with Rand Paul on numerous issues - and an agreement with even Code Pink on this one issue.

If you are serious about why healthcare costs as much as it does, you should watch these two presentations - both by physicians - and both highly passionate about the issue while also non-partisan - then you should ask how Obamacare solves these issues:

    http://www.tvw.org/index.php?option=com_tvwplayer&eventID=2008030136C

If pointing out these issues gets on your nerves, with all due respect, good. You should be thinking about them.
