I was at a running expo today and there was a florist taking orders for bouquets to give to runners crossing the finish line.

    Would you do it?

    Sweet idea but declined.

A man buys himself a drink, but never flowers.

A woman buys herself flowers, but never a drink.

I remember when those were the simple axioms of my youth. So that when faced with a question like this, I'm not sure what part of me gets to answer: the traditional or the modern.

But I'll say no, I still wouldn't buy myself flowers. Anyone for a drink? LOL!

Hell yeah I'd have done it so I could cross the finish line bathed in sunlight, glistening with sweat, and clutching my bouqet!

Oh wow, my scrap book is missing those photos.

Ah, good distinction, and of course allowed for a gay man. After all, that comes under the general heading of "decorating" does it not? LOL!

(I love to be wickedly inconsistent in how I view gay stereotypes)

    I don't send myself flowers.

I have made obscene phone calls to myself, though.

Very lucrative. I charge myself $2.99 a minute.

    Win. Thread over.

I wouldn't buy myself flowers, nor do I like it when others buy them for me. That's because I don't like something that just dies.

I admit I buy flowers. I've a vase on my table. Looks great to have flowers in it. So yeah I do. But only once ever 6mo or so.....they die quick and its kind of a waste. Heck they are just flowers lol.

You're too kind! I just remember the simple (and no doubt simplistic) values of my youth.

It was a lot easier then, but they also often got it wrong. Simple formulas can give you simple-minded falsehoods.

So today we've got it all figured out, right? Yeah, sure, until the next generation comes along that thinks nothing more ignorant and laughable ever lived on the face of the Earth, than we who live today.

You're only as smart as the moment in which you live. You're as ignorant as the moment that comes after you thinks.

    I would.

On that note, I reccomend 1800flowers.com. They've always been very helpful and they were willing to compensate for a small problem I had with one delivery.

On the other hand, I had a horrible, horrible experience with FTD.
Their customer service is ridiculous. They were unapologetic for having sent the wrong flowers. So much for trying to send a girl some tulips.

I would never send a girl tulips. A woman already has more lips than interest me. icon_razz.gif

They would just die, what does it tell the person. You are only good enough for something that will die in a few days?
I never liked the idea of flowers.
If you want to give me something, Complement me.
That will get you further than anything.

I keep flowers, plants and trees (real and silk) in all the rooms. It's a good look.

muchmorethanmuscle saidI've always gotten along better with people older than myself. I seem to share similar values with people from the previous generation and the one before that. In a few more decades I'll be the older one. icon_smile.gif

With whom will I relate to?

You can relate to me, I'm known as the old soul. Old people love me and baby boomers often feel like my peers.

I sometimes joke an old guy was reincarnated with my body, he still had some unfinished business.icon_cool.gif
