I will be moving to Maryland at the beginning of the summer. Setting roots outside of baltimore in one of the smaller cities. Any recommendations for new areas and places to check out?

When you move to Maryland, don't forget to check out both the capital city of Annapolis and our nation's capital Washington DC.

I live in Montgomery County - it's a great place to live. Almost all of it is safe, everything is well kept and there is a lot going on.

The taxes an be a bit high, but there are a lot of benefits (great county amenities and such) and it is very easy to get around - other than the ridiculous DC area traffic.

It's one of the most affluent counties in the US, and has one of the highest population of well educated (post graduate degree) people in the US.

Unfortunately, this also lends it to having a high cost of living.

It's also one of the most expensive counties in the US. But yeah it's the nicest area of Maryland.

It's basically just an extremely wealthy suburb outside of Washington, D.C. Bethesda is a very nice area. Clean, safe, easy to take the Metro into downtown.
