Do you believe in them? For me I do believe some of them are true like "The Man With The Hook, Lizard Man, and The Bunny Man Bridge."

How about you fellas? This is a yes or no type topic and if you do believe feel free to post one of your favorite urban legends here.

My favorite one is The Man With The Hook

I only believe in the scientifically credible ones, like bigfoot, the 24k living gold snake found in the amazon, and that one monster creature in Lake Loch ness. The rest are BS though....... icon_wink.gif

Those are not urban legends because none of them are in an urban hood ... those are like part of the 7 wonders of the world or something icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

The body in the carpet (college kids taking home a rolled up carpet they find on the street for their dorm only to find a dead body in it when they get back), the dead body under the hotel bed (happened a few times), the kidney heist (organ stealing is common in asian countries), and the body in the funhouse that turns out to be real (happened at a funhouse in Long Beach).

So then where do people draw the line? Because everything the previous poster said is possible and there is nothing out of the ordinary like creatures or random eye witness reports that make no sense.

Reminds me of the "fairies" in "Pan's Labyrinth".

The Feejee Mermaid, an old Barnum & Bailey hoax exhibition that was the basis for a classic X-Files episode:

    tumblr_m1p6lyQ5nx1r1isr7o1_400.jpg

The urban legend of the disfigured, murderous camp counselor called Cropsey does have a real-life basis in a series of terrifying child disappearances on Staten Island during the '80s, the crimes thought to be connected to a notorious mental institution shut down by the state.

    Very American Horror Story:

You can learn more about The Pied Piper of Staten Island in this unbelievably creepy
documentary that blends true crime with urban legend. Very effective.

There's a chilling moment out of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo when the filmmakers go back to examine old news footage surrounding the disappearances. A young girl has just vanished, and there's a fall-out-of-your-seat moment when they realize that the next victim -- an older boy -- is present in the frame behind a reporter.

The kid fucking looks right into the camera, and I swear, it's the eeriest thing ever.

    Ev-er.

The song "Love Rollercoaster" by The Ohio Players has long been rumored to have a murdered woman's screams audible in the recording:

Man that is really scary in my opinion

Well they say legends come from one subtle detail which gets built into something more...

I must say that I thought I heard a faint scream in the background of the roller coaster music but then again that could have been an influence based on what was written.

I'd like to think that Slender Man is real, since I absolutely adore vaguely creepy Lovecraftian cosmically horrorifying entities.

PS: If anyone wants to watch a pretty neat and suspenseful (although fairly amateurish) mockumentary on this, check out the youtube video "entries" under the user Marble Hornets.

I tried and failed to sit through Cropsey. It looked like it was shot with a cell phone camera. Maybe I'm just extra critical because I work with photo/video, but when something has production values that low I have a hard time taking it seriously.

Actually kind of disappointing because the synopsis looked really good.

WOW I didn't realize they were so delicate. Look at his little feet. Are the police going to let you keep him, since he has a name?

LOL .. I had forgotten about this, I remembered listening to the record over and over to hear for the scream .. it was finally debunked ... the album was recorded in a sound proof studio there was no way that a scream could have been recorded onto the album ... I think the scream they were referring to was the one at 2:34
