Scott Prouty revealed himself on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” Wednesday night as the bartender who shot (the 47%) video of Mitt Romney dismissing President Obama’s supporters during a closed-press fundraiser last year.

“I was behind this whole thing,” Prouty said.

The bartender said he brought a camera to the Boca Raton, Fla. fundraiser in case Romney came back to take pictures with the staff, as former president Bill Clinton had done at another event Prouty worked. ”I didn’t go there with a grudge against Romney,” he said. “I really had no idea he would say what he said.”

Prouty grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood in Boston, he said. He said he felt that people who couldn’t afford to attend a high-priced fundraiser should get a chance “to find out what the candidate actually thinks.”

He said he struggled for two weeks with whether or not to release the video and risk his own career. He did not have health insurance. After wrestling with the decision, he decided it would be cowardly not to release the video: “I went down the path and never looked back.”

The man was a game-changer....in the right place at the right time and with the right equipment...did Obama get lucky or did we the people get saved from a worse mistake?...big money requires big responsibilities and a conscience.....not sure Mr Romney understands that......just ask those Chinese children working in his factory....

Yeah I can't believe Romney was impressed with that. My take on the story he was told about the fence keeping people out from the factory is that the guy telling him that was lying and Romney actually believed him.

He should run for office. Then he'll know how hard it is to shut your mouth when you think nobody's listening. icon_lol.gif

I'm skeptical as far as how much his video influenced voters, i think most of the 47% didn't really process what Romney was saying and Romney was only caught testifying to what we all knew he thought anyway. It was primarily crack for political reporters and the media.

I hope Scott made enough off the video to retire because i'm sure he's on a black list in so many ways he'll never even know about.

To your first point, he did say that he posted the video online here and there and nothing happened at first.

Second point, at the same time, he'll be acclaimed by others. He is already being courted by Big Labor.

yeah which is all well and good, but him doing press interviews now kind of has a whiff of pimpin it for gain. like some manager or agent told him he needs to get out there and spin this into something, before his 15min evaporates. which i think happened 9mos ago.

And someone should let him know Big Labor has construction sites and access to concrete......
