So this evening I was finishing up my post workout shower and as I walked into the locker room I saw a guy sitting on the bench eating McDonald's! He had a wrapper balled up next to him of a chicken sandwich and he was working on a McDouble! That's quite a preworkout meal. Have any of you seen anything as bizarre as that or have you seen anything else just as crazy?

LOL. Some time ago, I saw some guy in the locker room trying to scarf down a footlong Subway sandwich before his workout.

And there used to be some other guy that would eat Cheetos between sets. Seriously, wtf.

A guy got on the treadmill next to me who had CLEARLY just smoked a cigarette. It was not conducive to deep breathing next to him. Good thing I was about done.

Would it have been less shocking seeing a guy chow down a 9 inch penis before his workout?

I always eat a banana immediately after a workout because it's in my gym bag which happens to be in the locker room, so I can't complain. I mean a full-course meal is a different story, but I don't see why one should be concerned.

I've seen guys eat PB&J sandwiches, beef & pasta dishes, etc in locker rooms before, but then again, I work out in a bodybuilder's gym, so that's pretty normal.

I don't think he's saying "Smokers can't lift", I think he's saying that smoking after working out is really dangerous. Smoking after workingout can have pretty bad side effects.

Well, a certain "gym" chain serves free pizza... So this kind of food must be good for your health and fitness *sarcasm dripping*.

As a medical professional, I understand the other commentaries regarding bulking, meals missed and other foods in the gym, but whence one is at least 75 pounds overweight and can not breathe and walks at 1.0 on a treadmill, a big part of me wants to just hug him and try to help, but another part tells me to ignore it... just a bit disconcerting.

Either this is crazy or I've been around so much crazy in San Francisco that nothing seems odd anymore.

Locker rooms aren't that conducive to enjoying food. We've moved beyond food as fuel, we have choice, not just eating what we hunt (unless you hunt in the supermarket) I find it a bit sad really.

I wish I could eat before a work out, but it makes me feel ill and weak. I have to time food at least 2 hours prior.

It seems like we've struck a nerve here.

What do you feel shame doing before or after the gym?

    Why the feelings of shame?

McDonald's in a gym locker room. I think that is a bit odd, can you imagine the fast food stink. and while some say mind your own business, depending on how well I knew the person I probably have to say something. You've got to rib the guy who brings McDonald's into the locker room a little bit. icon_lol.gif if it were a complete stranger, I would let it go.
