i'm a writer in LA. lots of free time. last year an actor friend (sort of well known but free time as well) and i did disneyland like 20 times. probably more. was so much fun. he now goes back and forth between LA and NY so no pass for him right now. i miss it. no real point to this post lol... i was just thinking about it.

    anyone love disneyland?

we'd did a lot of cali adventure... soaring over califonria is so nice... drawing classes are cool, the cars ride is spectacular, the toy story ride/game is so much fun... and disneyland of course... we did capt eo every visit... it's so bad i love it. always got churros. star wars ride is really fun though i'd always get a bit nauseous... and i love love toy story 2 zurg ride game... i always beat him

we'd go and just do things that didn't have long lines... not go all day since we could go back any time. sometimes he'd call at 3 in the afternoon and we'd zip down there.

last year did the leap day thing they did... on the 29th of feb they stayed open 24 hours... we went at midnight... was insanely packed before we got in... in fact somehow we snuck in ahead of thousands of others... also helped he got famous person vip parking... THAT i'm gonna miss dammit

I have a friend at work who's gotten hooked on mountain biking, and we regularly make a beeline to the trails when we both get off early (which is quite common).

We even talked the boss into giving us out-of-town summer contracts close to each other (me in Maryland, him in Jersey) so we can hang out during the summer since we'll both have 4 days off every week.

I call him my straight "husband" since we hang out all the time and never have sex. icon_lol.gif

Way back in the day - when Disneyland was still A through E ride tickets - I moved to LA from the midwest. My first year in SoCal I went to Disneyland at least 15 times. Now I love Disneyworld and go when I can.

I went to visit my sister in LA in the early 70's.
She finally took me to Disneyland one night towards the end of my stay.
We didn't go on any rides.
I bought a mickey mouse watch. Right before I went back home, my
watch went missing. Years later my sister told me she stole it and pawned it.

OP - I take it that you haven't been to DisneyWorld in Orlando? IMO, it's much better than Disneyland. My fav park is EPCOT.

Aristoshark saidI don't do Disney. Disney was a Nazi.

He was also a sexist (believed women couldn't be good animators) and a union buster. The last word from his mouth were "Kurt Russell" (confirmed by Kurt himself). Now what was THAT about?

One reason Disneyland is better than Disney World is because it's not in Florida!

I can empathize. My best friend and I use to get season passes for Six Flag Great Adventure. We went all the time... 'sick' days, vacation days, Holidays, maybe even right after work... whenever we felt like screaming our heads off on their roller coasters.

My best friend eventually married and moved into Brooklyn with his husband. We no longer buy season passes but occasionally we'll take a day off from life and revisit Six Flags.

I've been to Disneyland a couple times, not for a long while though. I live like a mile away from it. From what I heard from my older brothers and other peeps, you pay like $20 for parking now. Full price like $80 - $100 ? for one park / one person (California Adventure), no discount for local Californians, once you get in - you wait for another 60 minutes to 75 minutes just for one ride !

It's so damn popular with all the tourists. I mean, I don't think I have the patient for it. From far away it's okay, I don't enjoy it up close. It's more about family anyway, and I can hear/see the fireworks every night around 9:30 pm which became more annoying though. Just saying.

I am more of a Zoo, Art Museum, Beach kind of guy. icon_cool.gif

the wait times are not bad depending the ride and time of day and day of week... when you have a pass you can just go on a whim and do a lot of things... the drawing class is never a wait... they do it every 30 mins... soaring over cali you can do single riders line... the toy story disneyland one moves really fast... capt eo is every 20 mins or so and u always get in... toy story in california adventure always 40 mins... the new cars ride is crazy but it's new... haunted castle, tiki, pirates... all quick and doable depending when you go... for a pass holder that can go during week it's great... my roomie and his bud just went... one day and did everything they wanted to do and had a blast...

I"ve been there as a guest, close friend is an imagineer for the parks. The only time i go to disneyland is with him,( back door access and cut in line etc. )

the elevator ride up is the best part, but the food was good, and great views of the park too.

OP, you are awesome. I have a season pass. I'm not a fan of the corporate side of the mouse, but nothing comes close to the magic in the parks. I'm keeping close tabs on the speculation of the transformation of Tomorrowland, where the Innovations atttraction, Autopia, and yes, perhaps even the submarines are going to be replaced by new attractions. Thanks for posting, because now I'm missing D-land, too. Time to plan my next trip.
