Joeyphx444 saidI just don't like the idea of forcing organizations to be tolerant
If a certain business didn't want me to work there because I was gay or anything really, and I fight that till they do then what was the point? To just win and say haha, now you have to keep me. I wouldn't feel comfortable after the face cuz deep down they still probably don't want me. Their emotions are just oppressed by a government mandate
Plus boy scouts? Really? People are still into that?
I agree that private organizations should be able to do whatever the fuck they please in this particular regard. I have no problem if the scouts want to be known as brownshirts. They've already got the color coordinated uniform.
But businesses engaging the public at large ought to be required to meet minimal standards of decency, otherwise you'd have a paranoid society.
People have a reasonable expectation to walk into any publicly run business, whether to make or spend money, without being accosted by facing discrimination. And that's regardless of whether or not you decide to work or shop there, which I'd rather not do. But that I would walk away from that is not my approval that they continue discriminating others in violation of reasonable public standards.
