The more muscular the guy = more of an asshole?
    Thoughts? Experiences?

I don't know if it's the lifting, the testosterone or the supplements but some big guys are jerks at gym and online (everywhere) and even just in person in other places

Or it could be a power shift. They used to be small and skinny or big and fat and now that they've gained all this muscle, it (literally) went to their heads. Like they became what they didn't like.

Just thinking here, no across the board generalizations, I know their are exceptions and there's no REAL proof, just my exp

I have a "natural" physique and I've always been an asshole (to the rare person who deserves it). icon_razz.gif

In my limited experience, most of the muscular guys I've been around were sweet, funny, and unassuming.

The assholes have to exist somewhere though - just like with any other type of person.

I think sometimes being muscular, and in most eyes, "hotter" can get to your head sometimes. But, there are some men that become completely arrogant almost to the point where they consider themselves a god.

Same thing happens with many things, like intelligence. Once scientists or whomever become too smart, they lose faith in religion, trust in others' abilities, etc. because they just think they're #1. I'm sure there's a psychological term for this complex but lets just call it the asshole syndrome.

Yeh I've noticed this too, yes it's a generalisation but it also has some merit to it. If you think about it, working out consistently and eating strictly most of the time involves a lot of self discipline, and sometimes that can be associated with selfishness or inability to put others before themselves. The more results and muscular they get, the more it becomes about bettering themselves to the point of narcissism. I think it's more pronounced within the gay community when image is even more important.

It depends on what you are doing with them..

Even people who are super proud of their accomplishments don't like to be objectified all the time.

I used to date a guy that was p big, and when he was an asshole to people it was usually because he was upset at being treated like a hunk of meat.

    Not true.

I thought that when I first hired a personal trainer and started using a gym. The big buff guys at my gym could not be nicer.

Plus - there are plenty on here -

musclebadger and musclecomeback are two that come to mind.

There will be douchy jerks in any demographic.

I have my douchie moments. 7FaMark and I had an exchange this morning that has me in his official 'fuck you you arrogant prick' corner I'm pretty sure. Frankly I agree that the bigger the dude the nicer. We all have moments.

But I love me some Quest so XO

It can go either way really, but you can say that about any group. It's tantamount to saying that all Mexicans are lazy or all Asian kids spend their lives playing video games or gay men are all feminine. Sure, that stereotype might be true some of the time, but it's hardly true in every (or even most) cases. Says more about your line of thinking than anything else.

Has this been proven? Photographic evidence depicting the correlation would support your statement.

    Agreed.

Where are you having these experiences with these people? If it's in the gym, it might just be the element, and them not wanting to be bothered by you? Not sure.

I guess I just don't talk to people at the gym lol.

I think it depends on the city and the population size. I haven't been to any of the gyms in LA but I would imagine finding a nice, muscular guy in the city can be quite a challenge.

Not true. There's an absolute monster of a guy who works out at the same gym as me (not gay though, dammit) who has always been pointedly friendly and cheerful when I've asked him for tips on form, and I've never seen him act like a jerk to anyone else there.

Agreed, we can indeed be dicks. I dont particularly like other muscle guys, my first preference is the tall/lean type, so I usually avoid and ignore them, which in turn has caused me to be labeled stuck-up. Dont give a shit though; Ive been around enough fitness models on photo shoots with my partner to have formed the opinion that muscular pretty guys are douches and not worth the time and attention people give them.

Well I'm slim and I'm the nicest guy so obviously your theory is right. I'd be an asshole if I got buff for sure though.

Not necessarily. I've talked a few muscular guys who are nice and polite, but some are not worth a damn. Generally speaking, it is not hard to differentiate the two. Though, I will say there seems to be more of a chance you'll encounter a narcissist than otherwise.
