A follow-up to something I initially mentioned in a St. Patrick's Day thread on Sunday, when our celebration plans were suddenly cancelled due to his being admitted to the hospital.

Day Three and he's still in the hospital, most of my RJ posts made from my iPad at his bedside, while he mostly sleeps or watches a little TV, or was taken for tests. Thank gawd for WiFi Internet, I'd have gone crazy sitting here for 11 hours yesterday with nothing to do but worry & fret.

Results from his tests yesterday are still being evaluated, but a heart blockage is suspected. If confirmed they will transport him to another hospital where he'll have heart surgery, likely tomorrow morning. The nature of the procedure is TBD based on what they find, but a stent is the least they will do, which isn't too bad. They also think he didn't have an actual heart attack, which would have been his second, we got him to the ER quickly enough when he was having the early warning signs.

I'll continue killing time online, provided the new hospital's WiFi content filtering lets me, should he be moved. I've had some medical places block RJ as porn, and one even blocked ABC News as porn!

Best wishes to you both. it seems like so many of my friends are having heart issues these days (me too!) - but it's getting pretty routine, and those who have had procedures say they haven't felt as well in years.

    Get well soon!

As my ol'man had a number of open heart surgeries from back in early days of these procedures, I'm well aware and impressed with how far medicine has come. So probably you're biggest problem right now is public access to good porn. You'd think they'd wanna keep their patients' hearts pumping.

Best of luck to you both.

Thanks to yours and all the kind comments here, which I'll share with him. icon_biggrin.gif

As for good porn, the hospital filters are very effective. I can't even go to gay articles on mainstream news sites. RJ blocking is intermittent, sometimes interrupts me without warning after I'm already here. If i close the browser and then resign on I can usually get RJ going again. But it still blocks certain threads, even when the subject line doesn't seem objectionable in any way, and it will block my quoting in some cases, too. icon_question.gif

The worst was a Catholic hospital where he was taken for his stroke. I couldn't get RJ at all, and many news sites.

The only thing effective about that is its discrimination.

Probably the same reasoning that anyone who's gay is a pervert and a pedophile, likewise anything gay online will be pornographic and obscene. So that I'm blocked from some (but oddly not all) gay news items from major news services.

Latest update: tests indicate he does have a heart blockage. He'll be transported to another hospital, but tomorrow morning (Wed) rather than this afternoon as originally told us. I'm interpreting that as indicative of a less than extremely urgent condition.

Then tomorrow he will undergo a heart catheterization to reveal the nature & extent of the blockage. We were told a stent emplacement is possible at that time. Or bypass surgery may be indicated, but at a later time after additional prep.

So one more night at this hospital, which is our regular for ordinary tests and minor procedures. The other hospital specializes in cardiac care.

I'm not sure I've seen that thread and know which one it is. I did some quick checking and he'll be seeing a top cardiologist tomorrow. With the geriatric population of South Florida (and I'm a member myself) they get lots & lots of practice with heart cases, a major industry here.

Thanks! The easy part is staying by his side - the tough part is going home at night to an empty house and bed. I hate sleeping alone without him, and knowing where he is. icon_sad.gif
