Sometimes I have the worst time falling asleep. What works for you?

I put on a bad horror film and I typically fall asleep on the sofa.

Recently watched and fell asleep to:

    Child's Play
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    Halloween

a combo of jerking off, a single tablet of melatonin, and a drop of lavender essential oil on my pillow does the trick when jerking off alone just ain't enough.

it was to be cold in the room when I sleep, other than that I normally don't have problems sleeping. If I do, a quick jerk off does the trick

Luckily I don't usually have problems falling asleep, but once in a while if I do i find that a cup of tea usually helps me relax.

Under no circumstances should you fall asleep while watching tv....really fucks up your head.. Try a 15 minute fast walk before bed.

    In that order?
Or get crazy and mix it up?? icon_biggrin.gif

I like to count DancerJacks jumping over my bed with a combination of a touch of sweat on my pillow and single dallop of WET lubricant for jacking off

Or perhaps just a visit by the real DancerJack to wear me out, if not in the mood for jacking off - and then, hell who cares 'bout sleeping?? icon_wink.gif

There are a lot of good suggestions within this forum. I do also take Trazodone as a sleeping aid.

Also, I have two cats and one likes to lay on my chest (or off to my side) and the other at my legs. So that can slow down the process of sleep also.

The best thing I ever found was reading 1 or 2 pages of "Hitler and Stalin: Parallel Lives"by Alan Bullock, could never do more than 2 before falling asleep. I'm sure his lectures must have been full of people snoring. 1184 pages , took me 2 years to read .

I second the trazadone. It's very effective and your body does not build a tolerance for it.

On a normal night, jacking off.

    On a special night, sex.

Under extreme circumstances, 10mg of Ambien.

Most nights I procrastinate about going to bed, so by the time my head hits the pillow I'm pretty sleepy, so it doesn't take long.

On the other nights, I have more fun ways, which have been covered above.

Reading usually helps me. I think it drives all the other thoughts out of my head and allows the brain to calm itself. And if it doesnt work, I get some good reading in. ... icon_biggrin.gif

And if I need a pill, I take Lunestra. Ambien lets me do stuff in my sleep and that scares me.

On the rare occasions that this happensto me, I find that some Yoga and Meditation helps me sleep. I have also used most the ways already mentioned except for the drug options.

With someone who's had a long history with insomnia
some pointers I've picked up over the years
No caffeinated beverages circa sleep time
make sure you make a ritual about going to bed every night
read for a bit play the radio
    TV isn't so good
keep the lights out or low
and try to get tuckered out in your workouts .... the more tired your body is the more likely you'll fall asleep
falling asleep is a habit don't forget
