And THAT'S why I don't deadlift. It's the one exercise I regretfully avoid. (I also avoid lunges and unsupported barbell rows, but without regret.)

deadlifts are SERIOUS, bwoy. icon_lol.gif my guess is that those guys didn't drink enough water or lifted way too much for their own good. plus their forms weren't good either especially the first guy.

i love doing deadlifts which is why i can't wait to do them today. the only issue i have is with the form though. i have a problem at the starting point in terms of squatting.

I've gotten different answers about the proper form. Are you supposed to bend your knees and bring the bar up keeping it close to your body or is it further out and more of a back pivot?

True, if you don't know how to do it then don't do it. That's why I rather not do it even if people tell me that I'm a pussy, it's my back getting fucked up, not theirs.

Actually, this may not be as simple as blaming a lack of breathing, or poor form, etc. There is a reflex of the autonomous nervous system (vasovagal reflex) in response to a strenous compression of the abdomen and chest, that leads to a sudden vascodilation and drop in blood pressure. If he had low blood pressure to begin with, perhaps low blood sugar, and is perhaps prone to this, I can perfectly see this happening. I also get sometimes dizzy after a max effort deadlift, although I haven't passed out yet.

The bar should literally scrap your shins the whole way up, which is why I often wear tube socks on deadlift day.

Agreed - for the second guy. I guess 235 lbs (45 and 2x25 on each side). The first one is decent, though. The blue plates are likey 45s, 4 of them on each side puts it at 405 lbs, plus the larger black plates on the inside, and smaller ones on the outside. So probably in the mid to high 400's - which isn't that bad.

My gym has a scoreboard system for things like deadlifts, bench presses, weighted squats, etc. So, I hope he at least got his name on whatever scoreboard system they have... lol...
