Well what cheery ads to be seen on the way to work:

"The punishment of homosexuality is the death penalty."
    - Leading Islamic cleric, Sheik Qaradawi, of the Muslim Brotherhood

"Homosexuaity is ugly...In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country,"

    - President Ahmadinejad of Iran, where homosexuality is punishable by death

"If there are two such persons among you, that do this evil, the shameful act what do you have to do? Torture them, punish them, beat them and give them mental torture."

    - Sister Ruby Ramadan, presenter on a Muslim radio station in Britian"

....hopefully this will make people aware of what Islam can be like. On the other hand, this is going to make a lot of people dislike muslims, which is really a shame as a lot of them are very moderate and don't follow or heed that stuff.

What is their purpose? Get people to hate Muslims?

I'm sure they will avoid mentioning that the marriage laws in Israel are decided by Orthodox religious authorities, which means the chances of legal gay marriage in Israel are extremely low. There exists homophobia in Israel too, and fundamentalists and homophobes in their parliament. There are extremists in any religion. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes. That is EXACTLY the intention.

I knew this Jewish woman who is totally Islamophobic, a friend of a friend. Every time I saw her she'd launch into one of her rants and she started emailing me stuff. I finally told her to shut the fuck up and not send me any of her trash. She was very offended and couldn't understand it.

Yes there is homophobia in the Muslim world and it can be brutal. No argument. My problem with all this is she was as ant-Muslim as some Muslim's are anti-Semitic. I mean rabid. I don't need people yanking my 'gay' chain to join them in their hate.

It seems awfully one-sided. One could easily run a similar campaign featuring Christians. Start with these quotable quotes:

"[Gay marriage is] a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God." Pope Francis

"Homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." Pope Benedict XVI

are any "actively" relgious people much different than the kkk if you are gay. I mean the ones that are day to day in your face about it as below:

If you bother me about it and I asked you to black out leviticus 20:13 and you wont...well you get to be treated like a black guy would the kkk. I dont see any other option. Either you believe let it stand and I get to disown you as subhuman, or you black it out, and we can be friends. Its reallly a matter of respect.

My tolerance does not extend to you carrying a book saying you want me dead, if you are not willing to alter it to prove to me you disagree with it.

If you never really bring it up. Im willing to look the other way for the most part. There are good parts to some religious people.

I know some really nice Muslims; but I don't want that religion in this country. If more people "convert" to Muslim, some will eventually rise to power and use the hateful teachings to kill "infidels" such as us.

In other words, I don't believe in freedom of religion. I believe in freedom FROM religion...which is something this country has yet to embrace.

i think this is a legitmate concern.I believe in western society, and since this has been asked of me before, I define western society as:

"The conditions which produce unfettered, and fund:NEW (as opposed to milking one historical cultural meme eg. karate or geisha): movies, art, music, writing, and dance desirable to be seen by foreign cultures so as to add to the enjoyment of the world. You only get that in a society that has the freedom, and economic clout to remain above poverty and kids have a chance to rebel from time to time."

I would like to see a much greater shift toward western society as i have defined it, and eliminate any influences that repress it.

I've met a lot of nice Muslims as well, just like I've met nice republicans. Doesn't make me any less terrified of what they'd do if they got into power.

I think is funny how some of you side with RESIZED TEXT GOES HEREthe Muslims and act like Jews and Christians are worse. I haven't seen too many mainstream Jewish or Christian group beheading fags.

I lived in the Middle East for a while and there were several foreign homosexuals beheaded in the country. The country also said there were no Saudi citizens that were gay and no one had aids there.

So an Israeli is posting phrases from Muslims to garner anti-Islamic support and bolster support for Israel?

What a surprise. And what a f*ckin douche.

In my home country in Latin-America, they used to pull gays apart with four horses, along with escaped African slaves. Till quite recently. I am so used to it, I feel as if Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are all the same in this regard and I would never support any of them. They can all disappear from the face of the earth for all I care.

The Bible is actually more extreme than the Qur'an on homosexuality, as the Qur'an never details any punishment for homosexuality (it only retells the story of Lut/ Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah) , while the Bible has the Leviticus verse which supports the death penalty for it (as it has been interpreted).

Shari'a law and many other extreme things don't come from the Qur'an, they come from the Hadiths, collected sayings attributed to Muhammad, which are in fact oral traditions, making them much less reliable theologically, so there is no real proof that Muhammad actually said any of those things.

Come on folks..heteros think if gays were in power we'd sodomize their children!!

..Am I being politically correct when I ask we differentiate the practices of radicals VS good upstanding Muslims?

..Or are most of you in this thread are writing off Islam as pure evil?
