DDP Yoga, my experiment! Have you tried it?

Back in November of 2012 I started running 3-4 miles a day again after having been "on the side lines" so to speak for a few years. I wanted badly to drop some weight and get fit and in shape again. It seemed, even with a good diet I just wasn't seeing great results. Certainly I wasn't seeing results for the 21 to 28 miles I was running a week. So aside from also changing my food intake, I started some weight training as well. It felt like I was just kind of going thru the motions, not quite hitting a stride with weight training, still pushing myself to do my running everyday, all the joint pain included (6'3" 314 lbs (people were surprised how much I weighed when I told them) running will take a toll... QUICKLY) I needed to find something that worked for me and I just kept struggling, but pushing forward no less. I didn't stop, I didn't give up, I just kept going. Looking for anything that could help me progress. One day a facebook friend posted a video of Arthur Boorman's transformation thanks to Diamond Dallas Pages Yoga program. http://youtu.be/bIXOo8D9Qsc

After I watched it I noticed I was just staring at the screen, I couldn't believe what I just saw. So I watched it again. Then again, and about 10 times after that. I shared it on facebook, told everyone I came into contact with to watch this video, it's inspiring beyond belief! After doing some research I placed my order. I was in awe (while remaining skeptical this could work for me).

I started doing DDP Yoga on February 8th. I stopped all other regimes of my workouts. My results started nearly immediately. I noticed my clothes fitting a little better, my weight started to decline, muscle mass was replacing fat and quickly. I had muscles now that i've never seen before and I couldn't believe it. I was addicted almost instantaneously! I bought some sweat shorts from Target, they were a little tight all around, when I got them I didn't need to tie them to keep them up, but now I have to tie them or they hit the ground. just over 30 days in, and I have no more back pain, my flexibility has improved ten-fold. Not one headache since I've started, and all my bloodwork (that was insanely off the charts in early December) had lowered to near perfect levels (true story) my Doctor told me he didn't expect these fantastic results in 3 months.

on 2/8/13 I was not able to do even 1 proper push-up, now I can do 8 (I was never able to do a proper push-up btw). I feel so great that I can't imagine not doing this yoga every single day. It's the best thing I've ever found that not only keeps me interested but leaves me feeling healthy and fulfilled when I am finished.

I have pictures and actual measurements! When I'm feeling more confident about my body I will post them, but until then, here are my 30 day results!

    -2.25 inches off my waist
    -4 inches off my chest
    -3.5 inches off my hips
    -2 inches off each thigh
    +1 inch on my biceps

Lost 11 pounds (now 303), but gained a lot of muscle mass. I'm big boned, my shoulders to my waist, it's just how it is, but I've always had a pretty decent level of athleticism, but never before have my legs been this muscular, my quads are all popping... I'm addicted and finally it's something that's good and healthy for me! My excitement grows daily and I can't get enough. Has anyone else here tried this Yoga? I'm curious to see if you have, what your thoughts are on it!

I've done regular yoga on and off for years and I still love it, but it's just not the same as this.... Just can't get enough...

After 3 years of yoga I have found that I need to do both weight training and yoga. Running is a waste of time if you are looking for weight reduction. Paleo diet will burn fat and build muscle. Try the 5 Tibetan rights.

off topic but who would think that diamond dallas page would actually go from dropping the diamond cutter to becoming a yoga king? fucking crazy just like kevin nash appearing in magic mike. *collapses*

This yoga involves isometrics and it's working so well on me. I will look into paleo. I have a friend who started that and now just went vegan. Funny thing is, he doesn't even really like vegetables. I know I cannot be a vegan, but could likely be successful with paleo. Thanks for the tips. I have been thinking about what to do to go to the next level.

I just ordered DDP Yoga today. I can't wait to get it. Right now, I'm about 317 lbs and seeing a nutritionist. I saw her this past Thursday and I told her I was thinking about getting it, and she said go for it. So I've been speaking to my mom about it for the past few days and she offered to pay for it today. I'm so excited about it. This is a lot cheaper than the gym.

DDP actually stands for Diamond Dallas Page. He's a retired professional wrestler.

Haven't tried DDP, but I've been doing Broga for the past 9 months. I like doing yoga in a class environment, doing it from a video doesn't work for me. That said, I'm willing to give it a go.

But I'm real happy that it's going so well for you! Keep up the great work!icon_biggrin.gif

So I finally got my DDP Yoga DVD's and I'm loving it. It's a huge pain in the ass, but I love it. What a workout. So far I've done the diamond dozen and energy. I'll try the others as I get used to energy. But yeah, what a workout. Hopefully I'll never have to join the gym again.
