He came out of surgery around 3, in ICU now. His surgeon told me the operation went well, he got a triple bypass. His past Heparin intolerance did not become an issue during the procedure.

He's not awake yet, still has a breathing tube and cannot speak, won't really be alert until tomorrow, nor remember most of today. I may return home before long, his ICU room isn't built for visitors, no chairs. I'll spend more time here tomorrow, and Sunday, when he's responsive.

Thanks again to all the concern you guys showed in my other thread describing his condition as it was unfolding. A great comfort having a place to unload my tensions, and receive your support & encouragement. Bob icon_biggrin.gif

Great news! I'm very happy for you!

A dear friend of min in England had a triple two years ago, and is now at least ten years younger!

    Best wishes to the patient.

rigsby saidBob, To answer the question you posed in the other thread:"how did you find out?", I called the hospital and asked how he was doing.

To quote my late Father, after I had explained to him how the Internet works: "Oh, is that all it is? I thought it was something complicated."

I guess that simple approach never occurred to me, too wrapped up with online solutions. Though I'm a bit surprised they'd give out patient medical info over the phone, even to someone having his name. Not that I mind you specifically getting it, we've been guests at your house, all had dinner together and know each other. I just thought patient info was confidential.

I will, but not tonight. I'm still in his ICU room as the new nursing shift takes over and gives him a complete check, he gets his own dedicated 1/1 nurse. I'm sorta hiding in a back corner, trying not to get in the way, surprised they're letting me use this iPad. Last time he was in a CCU no mobile devices at all were permitted. Maybe different telemetry equipment or something.

Good news for you both. Cheers to a speedy recovery.
Amazing what they can do these days.
Now if they could just fix this damned arthritis....

Very glad to hear he came through this well.

Now.....maybe it's too soon, but actually I think it's a perfect time to talk about prevention. I hope both of you will take a hard look at your diet and a good exercise program to prevent this from happening again. You have tons of friends on here who will be more than happy to guide you to healthier ways of eating, and some of us are actually nutritionists and personal trainers. I urge you to take full advantage of all the knowledge your friends here have to offer.

Now get that man all healed up and get his ass home where he belongs!
