What inspired me was some bitchy queen in the chatroom on a webcam site saying that I needed a C cup (i.e., a bra for my boobs). A month later, I weighed 10 pounds less.

Gaining it (fat, that is) in the first place.

    And (from my profile):
"Key motivations: vanity (I want to be able to turn myself on), fear of obesity (my dad is overweight, as is a paternal aunt)...and I also want to know what it feels like to be in great shape and look droolalicious :-)"

I wondered what it felt like to NOT have my thighs rub together when I walked. Or to have to shop in a big & tall store (I had a 46-inch waist in high school). I didn't want to hear anymore that I'd find someone amazing some day because of my sweet personality. And I wanted to feel that--in a world where so much was out of my hands--I at least took control of my health.

You've done an amazing job, Chasersprize--honestly, you're my inspiration now. :)

For me it was the realization that I could no longer do the extreme hiking that I had done when I entered college, or play the sports I loved. When I was a freshman I went hiking in the dead of winter in one of the coldest spots in the lower 48 for a good 8 days with friends. It was tough, especially because the Sawtooth Mountains are so rugged, but I could do it. By the time I finished college I had gained so much and become so sedentary that I couldn't do that kind of hiking anymore, or play soccer or tennis for more than 20 or 30 minutes without being winded. I started working out again so that I could get back to a point where I could do all the things I loved to do, and more.

When I started college....I had no car...still don't! But my schedule was sooo crappy that I would walk back and forth from school...it was 2 miles each way. There were days I was walking almost 12 miles!!!!

I started working in a childcare last march and slowly started packing on the lbs. I just feel lousy about myself like no one actually wants me...even though people say I am not fat at all. So I bought some slimfast the other day, and I am starting my new regime tommorow! On my way to being my fit self again!

My doctor told me when i was younger that i would suffer from a premature heart attack if i were to keep my weight as it was. It was a reality shock for me since i was still in high school, but in doing so, i was able to push myself in working out a diet and workout schedule.

My inspiration was the environment at large. I switched to vegetarian because of the impacts to the environment of the meat industry. I started riding my bike or walking to replace driving as much as possible to reduce my CO2 emissions. I also have tried to cut down on the amount of food I eat to conserve food. Sort of the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle concept to eating. Well except the recycle part.

It makes the penis look bigger. Can there be any greater motivator than that?

Me likes DJMEW's concept, help yourself to help the environment. For me it was being borederline diabetic & getting high blood pressure. Dr. wanted me on meds, I decided I wanted do something about it with out meds first, so far it is working. If you are not to that point yet don't let yourself get there.I use this site as my inspiration. Just remember it takes time, it sneaks off just as slow as it sneaks on.

I want to lose weight because I want to be sexy. When you work nightshifts and in your 40's, it's easy to gain weight.

A buddy of mine gained like 40 lbs in one year. He looked like he had gotten pregnant. He drowned in a lake because he didn't realize hiis new body weight had changed his physical performance.

I've been overweight since I was 14 - and been on a diet ever since, but it finally all came together.

I suppose the reasons are similar to everyone else's - the mirror, not being able to by the clothes I really liked, thighs rubbing together.

Manged to lose 30kg's by my 30th birthday (about 66 pounds.

From 5th grade until about 5 years ago, I was overweight. At my heaviest, I was 250 lbs. Over those years, I was told that I was high risk for diabetes and heart problems. I also didn't like the way I looked.

Then, I literally woke up one day and decided to go for a walk. I made it a daily routine, going from walking to running. Then, over a year after that, I lost 100 lbs, I was running a 8 minute mile and I felt better about myself.

my motivation came from just getting tired of none of my clothes fitting, and having to buy new ones. Plus medically lots of things were not going well and i was told could be headed for disaster if i did not change. I have made the changes and my body has made changes, and hence now i am a personal trainer who helps others.

Vanity would probably be my number one, as I'm not fat enough to have an impact on my health, just enough to irritate me and probably turn off guys.

Probably the memory of my father in his fourties with what he called "middle age spread" ie a very large belly!By my early fourties I was getting one as well. But what actually led to the weight going was training for a job application(police)-I needed to be much fitter than I was!

Today I just signed up on to RealJock. I posted three pictures of myself. The first one is my face. OMG!!! I look like my dad! The other two are of me showing my upper torso area. It looks like I am gaining "man boobs." I hate them as much as I hate the word. I need true honest feed back. Like will doing chest exercises help in burning the fat around the chest area?

    lttl espana:

You can't really spot burn fat. You can tone the muscle there, which can help some, but you can't lose weight from specific places outside of something like lipo.
