I'm gay but straight acting, but find it hard differentiating between gay and straight guys.Is there like a piercing or a wristband or something that will let them know (subtly) that i'm gay as well?

    No one's mentioned Grinder, really?

    Grinder.
    Or Manhunt.
Or OKCupid. (you can make your profile invisible to non-gays if you want)
Or any of the half-dozen other gaydar apps.

by hiding yourself from people and allowing straight people to continue operating under the misconceptions about gay people that are fed to them by the media, thereby perpetuating the very conditions that drive you to want to be "out" without being "out"

From what I've seen the only people who may still legitimately use this are Bears and even then it seems to only be used during large gatherings, not normal bar outings.

I need to use Grindr more. I'm not out yet and I don't want some guys on my dorm floor to know who are gay. The "10 feet" away might give it.

While, to be clear, I wholly endorse and support coming out (by which I simply mean not actively hiding): the settings in grinder allow you to choose whether or not your distance is displayed.
If you turn it off people will only know that you are closer or less close than other people, but not your absolute distance.
Admittedly, if you're closer than someone 30 feet away it's pretty clear how close you are.

Not sure how much you have to worry about being outed to guys using grinder though icon_smile.gif

I thought there was always that really awkward and discreet handshake that involves stroking the other man's hand with your middle finger will you shake.

Plus with the wifi the IPs are categorized to certain dorms and would clearly show an accurate distance. Oh well, I have 2 gay friends and they are "straight acting" they've invited me to PrideNight at a bar/club. Maybe they know.... Idk.

    I hear ya.

Although, if I REALLLLYYYYY do fancy somebody, I get a little shy to do this IRL. I always end up looking away first and then regretting it after the moment has passed. If i'm only semi-interested, I have no problem with flirty eye contact at all, as i'm not feeling butterflies whilst doing it, unlike the former scenario. Quite the paradox.

I'mma work on that though- growth is a beautiful thing icon_cool.gif
