Are there any out people or is everyone pretty closeted? If you can meet just one or two gay guys to be friends with, soon enough you'll meet gay friends of theirs, and then friends of friends. A year ago I had pretty much no gay friends, but when school started this fall I made a few, and now I have 15-20. Also I get along a lot better with guys I've met through mutual friends than with guys I meet online.

The old fashioned way: truck stop and airport bathrooms. OBVIOUSLY- if it works for public officials and politicians it can work for you =)

The gym? I met my first LTR there. Mind you most people seem to always have their ipods in making conversation tricky - but not impossible - get creative!

Same situation as OP here. Moved from a city of 3 million to a tiny cottage town. I love it here... but it was getting kinda lonely.
I wasn't looking for hook ups, Grindr wasn't a personal option.

I decided to get my face out there and meet new people, I joined several clubs and organizations that share my interests; sports / community / arts.

I'm continually meeting new people, making meaningful friendships, straight and gay.
Being an active, out gay man in a small town, word travels quickly...

Through my associations, I was approached to sit on the newly formed PRIDE committee in town ( pretty astounding for a Northern Ontario town of approx.12 thousand residents ) We'll be hosting our first Pride Picnic this summer, more opportunity awaits to meet new people, primarily men in my "peer group".

Anyhoo, my suggestion to you, mike34, is to get that handsome face out there, be yourself, share you skills and talents with others, get active in your community and enjoy life in your town.

Be open and approachable, Positive attracts Positive.
