I'm normally not into politics or stuff like that, but when I saw Nancy Pelosi's response to who she wanted to win in the NCAA basketball tournament I had to say something. Come on. She said she hopes everybody wins. Get real. That's the kinda statement that your old aunt says when she's trying to cover for the fact that she has no freakin idea what team is which. There are winners and losers in sports. That's part of the challenge. It's the losses that actually give you the incentive to push yourself to do better next time. Just going from personal experience, when I played football in high school, there were games were I tried my best and totally blew it. I certainly didn't get so depressed that I wanted to jump off a bridge. I just pushed myself to do better next time. If I would have gotten an award just for trying it would be worthless. It's the same with anything in sports or life. You're not going to win at everything and someone just blowing smoke up your ass isn't going to do you any good when it comes to finding the motivation to do better next time. Just my thoughts. Later!

Doesn't that seem a bit crazy coming from someone who won a political contest.
I do agree that giving ribbons or trophies to all participants dilutes the whole point of athletic competition which is of course to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

Perhaps she just isn't particularly interested in the NCAA basketball tournament and gave a typical non-committal politician's answer. Talk about making something out of nothing.

This. What would Nancy "win" by picking a team? Nothing. What could Nancy "lose"? Votes.

MCSDNYC saidShe said she hopes everybody wins.

One could also hope for the opposite.

There's a story that as the annual Army-Navy football game was approaching, a reporter asked a US Air Force General which team he favored. He replied:

    "I hope they both lose."

In choosing your candidate, how important is his/her interest in basketball?
