    I didn't think about it but I read that the necktie is possibly a phallic symbol and it has an arrow pointing to the genitals. Interesting view!

    It's actually a symbolic symbol of submission. It is a form of social "leash" which, ironically, the master never needs to actually grab and pull. Absolutely brilliant and insidious.
