Just had a great chuckle over these "truths" and "statistics" the original writer and Agema believes "everyone should know":

    Grab some popcorn first!

My fave "stat": "Homosexuals account for half the murders in large cities" icon_twisted.gif

We're gonna need a Museum of Bigotry, Intolerance, and Totally Crazed Homophobia (a "BITCH Museum", natch) for these folks' routine screeds.

I love how it was written up in 2005 but the latest "reference" link I could find was from 1994. Nice research, "Dr." Joseph! icon_lol.gif

Agema responded to the original article in Slate. Why do I have a taste for a Double-Down sandwich?

RNC Committeeman David Agema, via SlateHis findings and others confirm its an unhealthy lifestyle. The gay activists portray themselves as innocent victims ; however, we who believe in traditional, time tested values are being bullied. Because I disagree with their views, I have had threats to me and my family- thats hate! This is not about hate but a lifestyle that is against 230 years of American history and filled with medical, psychological, legal and costs reasons to oppose it. If you truly loved someone, you would want them to know their lifestyle usually leads to early death. It's about common sense. It's about maintaining the family and its importance to the well being of the children and this nation.

When he needs a job at the scarecrow factory, lemme know! 'Cause dude's manufacturing strawmen like it's going out of style (and it is!)

Gotta give some props to the Michigan GOP pols who are calling for him to step down from his party leadership role.

21 Michigan GOP politicians' joint statement, via Detroit Free Press“This isn’t about what we believe either politically or as women and men of faith. This is about common decency and realizing that you cannot win an election by insulting a wide swath of the electorate, whose votes our Republican Party needs to once again form a national majority.”

Of course, it still comes across as "Shhhh! Will you stifle? You're gonna Akin us!"

Going categorically as "women and men of faith" also makes it look like someone forgot the D in GODP. But heck, it's a positive development.

A reminder of the last time Agema made the rounds here on RJ:

The part I love is how these folks are reduced to repetitive performance art in order to make themselves relevant. It's literally down to Ric Flair calling the people at the Indiana Fair bucktoothed or something just to get boos.

    Triple-down, Dave, triple-down!

HuffPoBrad Fingeroot, the Oakland County Young Republican who posted the petition, thanked Agema for engaging in the discussion, but asked that the former state lawmaker “keep the smut on the sidelines.”

Agema, in response, accused Fingeroot of “trying to change” the Republican Party’s long standing principles.

I can send you reems [sic] of studies showing the negative health affects [sic] of this lifestyle,” Agema wrote. “Instead you would have us accept it, teach it to our kids, include it in our platform and cause great harm to society.”

“The people of America have the right to know what lays ahead if the Supreme Court rules the wrong way,” Agema continued. “You want to change the landscape of our party in a direction that had not been accepted for over 230 years. I’m trying to maintain or [sic] platform.”

    Reems! icon_lol.gif

    And he's at it again!

Of COURSE, he'd be talking at a GOP Holiday Party! icon_lol.gif Good on Gov. Snyder, though. I can tell after that Attorney General flap he's tired of this crap.

HuffPostA Republican National Committee official's anti-gay remarks last week are drawing criticism from fellow Republicans, including Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R).

Michigan RNC Committee member Dave Agema said at a GOP holiday party last week that gay people want health care reform because they die earlier in life. The Herald Palladium newspaper reported that Agema said he had seen gay colleagues at American Airlines claim AIDS victims as lovers so they could receive insurance benefits.

"Folks, they (gay people) want free medical because they're dying (when they're) between 30 and 44 years old," Agema said, according to Herald Palladium. "To me, it's a moral issue. It's a Biblical issue. Traditional marriage is where it should be and it's in our platform. Those in our party who oppose traditional marriage are wrong."

He sure sounds like fun at parties! icon_razz.gif

Now, let's all sing it together, once more, with feeling: "They twisted my words verbatim out of context! Wahhhh!"

HuffPostAfter Agema's comments last week were widely reported, he sent an email to supporters, saying the original article "twisted [his] speech far out of context."

"I was simply making a point about my opposition to same sex benefits and for traditional marriage," he wrote. "I stand by my words as I said them despite efforts by others to twist the meaning of those words. I strongly support the GOP Platform, the Michigan Constitution and the RNC Resolutions passed in support of Traditional Marriage and will not back down from those principles."
