Bananas have potassium. Cookies have only sugar. There's nothing more beneficial than a big banana and handful of nuts.

Bananas may rank up there alongside cookies and potato chips as far as the glycemic index is concerned, but that doesn't mean that bananas are as poor a food choice as junk food. Bananas have lots of vitamins necessary for a healthy body and have NO fat. Junk food is loaded with bad fats and often have 2-3x the calories. Check the ingredients of cookies and chips and see where the fat is coming from... butter, oil, all saturated fats that aren't good for you. Bananas are way better for you. I don't care if they've got a high GI rating or not.

True enough, but I think a single baked potatoe has about 8 times the amount of potassium as one banana?

edit: a baked potato has double the amount of potassium as a banana

Saying that bananas are a poor food choice because they produce the same sugar crash as cookies is about as stupid as saying that Burt Reynolds is as bad as Hitler because they both have (had) mustaches.

Sugar will only make you crash if you consume a great deal of it in a short amount of time. A single banana, with only 17-18g sugar, will not make you crash. At least, it's never made me crash. I don't recall ever getting a sugar rush from one either. To be fair, the only thing that can actually give me a true sugar rush is sour gummy worms.

screw that I rather have a banana over fries any day.. 1 fry becomes 2, then 3 and so forth. A banana is quick easy, and I usually eat them with greek yogurt her recently.

Bananas have only 100 to 135 calories depending on the size. Most of the calories would be sugars, but because of all the fibre, would not be absorbed as fast as if you ate that many calories of sugar in pure form, as in a cookie.

Bananas are very good for you - eaten or as a dildo (with condom - probably want to cut off the sharp end first). It's like any other food - too many = too many calories - so if strictly watching how many calories one eats, one has to limit the number of bananas.

I have maybe one a day when they are cheap and in season. I like to have it before I go to gym especially when I'm doing high metabolic exercises.

    Bananas are good for you!

Monkeys and chimps eat a lot of bananas and can easily do one arm chin-ups.

I ignore a lot of diet advice. Most of it is based on the silly assumption that everyone is trying to lose weight. I am not trying to lose weight and do not want to lose weight. I have never been overweight.
