Applebee’s employee gay-bashed by husband of co-worker says he was told not to return to work due to bad publicity

Timothy Phares subsequently did return to his job as a server after Greg Flynn, CEO of Apple American Group franchise, intervened on his behalf.

But it's not clear to me, in this rather convoluted story, what his current status is. Employed by Applebees or not? And what is the status of his local manager and co-worker?

I live close to Applebee's and never go inside to order foods. I am not fan of it because it is too ghetto for me...

There's a significant chunk of the story missing here. What was the initial disagreement about? The dude used a gay slur during the commission of the crime, but nowhere does the story indicate what the motive was during the premeditation.

I can't stand incomplete and inaccurate reporting.

Some people don't need more of a reason than that he was gay.
It said that the people were making anti gay slurs before, and he switched tables (which would only provoke them, unfortunately.) Seems to me that he came back to put some hurt 'to the faggot' who dared to live on the same planet as he does.

Good on the CEO for intervening. Makes me respect a company more when the higher-ups get involved.

He's currently employed there, but it sounds like he wants to find a different job soon. The co-worker still works there too, and he is not happy about her still working there. It didn't say if the manager is still there, but it sounds like she is. It was a rather convoluted story and difficult to keep track of everything.

This story although well written seems a little one sided.

Given that the criminal's wife and the gay dude obviously have some sort of professional relationship, I find it difficult to believe that the perp just decided to beat his wife's co-worker upside the head with at 2x4 at her workplace screaming "faggot!" just because he was gay -- unless he was on meth or bath salts or something.

Common sense seems to dictate that there was some bad blood between the parties involved, and I think the reporter should have reported on what that is. Now, the prior bad blood may well have to do with the victim being gay, but I just don't believe yet that this incident began and ended that day.

Not quite sure if ghetto is the right word but for me, I haven't been to an Applebee's in 10 years because the food sucks.

Yes. Yes, ghetto was the right word.

Thanks, it was difficult for me to follow. I'm not sure why the CEO intervention didn't accomplish more, like getting those other 2 people fired. And I'd like to know how the assailant got out on bail, since I doubt this is a guy who could afford to post a substantial bond, and is a repeat offender, including past bail jumping charges:

"[Assailant] Hendricks, 36, of Rice Lake, was taken into custody following the attack and charged with substantial battery intended to inflict bodily harm, a Class 1 felony. Hendricks, who has prior convictions for theft, false representation and distributing marijuana, is free on bail.

In the past, Hendricks has also faced charges for bail jumping and violating unemployment law."

I didn't know there were minorities living there.

    Reported.

Now wait a minute. In another post you slammed me for reporting a personal attack on me, where a guy said I would shoot Republicans in the face.

Are you being serious here with your "report" or is it a joke? Please clarify.

You mocked me for filing an Admin report about someone saying I wanted to shoot Republicans in the face, so what's the issue here? This didn't even mention you personally. You're just funnin', right?

Just having a little fun, Art, I didn't think I "slammed" you before, haha.
