' the congressman said. 'It doesn't’t mean I don’t sympathize with some of the issues. It means I haven’t evolved to that station. Rob Portman apparently has.'

This may sound harsh but I suspect it's the congressman's way of getting feedback from his constituents. If he gets enough pro gay support, he will evolve. It's how politics works.

This is going to be great when the son gets married and invites dear old dad to the wedding.

I can hardly wait for this story to unfold!

So this guy has the same opinion that was shared, until a very FEW short months ago as Obama and Hillary.. But they are heroes, so we must forgive their transgressions, and detest this loving father who clearly hates all non-white, non-hetero people. Now THAT is tolerance...

That is a bit extreme....no one said anything about detesting someone or that he hates all whites or non-hetero people. But that he has a gay son makes me hope that his son has a support system that he needs.

Well, there's a significant difference between this guy or any typical Republican in Congress and Obama. Yeah, Obama was late in "evolving". For a long time I was fond of pointing out that Dick Cheney's position on marriage equality was far better than Obama's.

But examine the record. Who has been instrumental in junking don't ask/don't tell? Who has declined to defend DOMA and directed the justice department to argue against it? Who directed the Justice Department to argue against Prop 8?

Now, think about it. Which Republicans in Congress have done similar things? What are the opinions of the Republican Party's late standard bearer Mitt Romney on these matters?

    I rest my case.

WATCH: AZ Rep. Says Gay Son Doesn't Change His Opposition to Marriage Equality

Maybe if he understood the history of marriage. Most religious people assume that the church started it. That is not the case.

    And how does parenthood work?

Look at how twisted this kid gets when he talks about his parents. How could they do this to him? Look at how he tries to rationalize the little eye dropper of love his parents dole out while holding back from their baby the bottle.

Yeah, this kid has been through Hell. But it seems equally obvious by the end of the video that his dad, the Republican Congressman has become supportive.

I hope both the congressman and his son get lots of positive feedback. His dad will keep evolving and we will all benefit as he does.

If it is so obvious that his father is so God damned supportive of his son, then why can't his son hardly mention his parents without struggling to stop himself from crying.

We don't the fuck need his scumbag father for us to benefit and his father can, frankly, go rot the fuck in hell. We're gonna wrest our rights right out of his greedy fucking father's slimy fucking hands. How's that for positive?

They put this kid through hell with that controversial gay-to-straight “reparative therapy,” bull shit trying basically to brain wash the kid and loath himself enough to make him straight. Fuck his parents and fuck these conservative, ultra religious, hateful republican peices of shit. This is why so many gay ppl, especially young gay ppl, kill themselves b/c of parents like his.

I feel so sorry for this kid. Something tells me a few of the conservaposse have had parents like this poor kid and to be honest as much as they annoy me more then anything I feel pity for them.

The fact that this kid still defends his parents just goes to show how bad the brain washing he got was and how far kids will go to get the love and acceptance from their parents that they should not have to change who they were born as for. Parents love should be unconditional. So very sad....

"An MSNBC spokeswoman told BuzzFeed that "a producer had initial conversations with Matt, like we do with many potential guests every day, but he was never formally booked for the show."

A source "close to Piers Morgan's show" said Salmon's account "isn't accurate."

"The show simply booked up with other guests on a different topic. Happens all the time in cable news," the source told BuzzFeed."
