They are the drag queens of the avian world. Stunning, flashy, and really mean if you get too close.

LOL!!!

You talking from personal experience?

Did one attack you? Goose you? Chase you down the street?

It was a personal experience (2 different occasions), but fortunately it wasn't me that was attacked.

They are beautiful creatures.

At the Washington Park Zoo, they have been allowed to roam free. Parents have been complaining beacuse children have gotten too close and been attacked by the birds. Rather than accepting responsibility for their own children, they want to have the birds caged.

Birds are nuts - the 'Jungles' Planet Earth has some intense birds - let me tell you, that blue-streaked bird of paradise would probably scare the shit outta me if I stumbled across it, but it's intensely cool regardless.

Yeah, they do that at the Metro Toronto Zoo as well - one of my fondest memories of the place when I was a kid was seeing a field of peacocks just milling about.

Hehe. There's a ranch here with peafowl, pheasants, and guinea fowl roaming free. Kinda like a petting zoo. They behave exactly like Turkeys anyway - bitchy!

Favorite bird of mine is the native Pied Fantail (Sayaw in our dialect - native to Southeast Asia to as far as New Zealand I think). Our native name for it means 'Dance' Because it really does look like it's dancing. I dunno but the sight of this bird always cheers me up.

It's also quite beautiful with it's tail feathers spread:
