“Lord, I’m going to get in trouble over this, but it is not natural for two women or two men to be married,” Everhart said. “If it was natural, they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship.”

Everhart said while she respects all people, if same sex marriage is legalized across the country, there will be fraud.

“You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” Everhart said. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal. I believe a husband and a wife should be a man and a woman, the benefits should be for a man and a woman. There is no way that this is about equality. To me, it’s all about a free ride.”

Everhart said if she had a young child, she wouldn’t want them to have gay parents who would influence that child’s sexual orientation.

“You’re creating with this child that it’s a lifestyle, don’t go out and marry someone else of a different sex because this is natural,” Everhart said. “But if I had a next door neighbor who was in a gay relationship, I could be just as friendly to them as I could be to you and your wife or anybody else. I’m not saying that we ostracize them or anything like that. I’m just saying I’m against marriage because once you get the gay marriage you get everything else.”

The only "equipment" anyone needs for marriage is a heart. Apparently, the "equipment" one needs to become state chairman of the GOP does not include a brain.

    Dear Sue,

This is to advise you that immediately, all airlines and airports will be shut down until such a time as people grow wings, otherwise it just isn't natural. (nor are birth control pills or condoms, btw).

C sections are unnatural as well, Sue. icon_lol.gif

I want to say rude things about Sue, but will settle for treating her like a human being.

Cool, so how does she explain all the gay people raised in straight households? Shouldn't the straight parents straightness have influenced the kids' orientation so they turned out, er, straight?

Apparently there are 1500 species that have been documented to have homosexual members- yet there is only one that is homophobic, has 'marriage' and believes that if you do natural acts (from fornication to masturbation) your soul will spend eternity in hell. You tell me what is 'unnatural'?

    Curious.

Whats to stop a pair of straight friends (one who is a man and one who is a woman) from doing this very thing ? Why haven't I ever thought of this scam?!

YES! The wingnuts and fundamentalists in the GOP are fighting a desperate rear guard action against the 21st century. After all, what can you expect from a party that hasn't even made it into the 20th century. A new Know Nothing party is born! I don't understand why progressive Northeastern Reps. put up with these morons.

I hate to break this to her... but sham marriages already exist.

That ship sailed, uh, a few thousand years ago...

There is nothing natural as such about any sort of marriage. It is a construct of society. If it was natural, animals would marry each other.

    Lol

It's so funny to hear her talk around a single statement and try to validate their intolerance. Why can't they just grow a pair and say it? It's blatantly obvious you just don't like gay people otherwise you wouldn't care if they had equal rights.

Of course she made those comments to a reporter from the ultra-conservative Marietta Daily Journal.

One of my first jobs in my brief journalism career was as a sports writer for the very same paper. The Publisher of the MDJ refused....REFUSED...to run pictures of African Americans in the paper saying, "They don't read our paper anyway."

The newspaper wasn't even delivered to those that lived in apartment complexes in and around Cobb County as the Publisher thought apartment dwellers are "transients."

This was in the mid-70's guys....The Publisher stepped down a few years back to hand the reigns to his tea-bagger son. Also, before having a son to assume leadership of the paper to (gawd forbid it would ever be lead by a woman), his wife kept poppin' out daughters until she finally gave birth to a boy....

Unreal. We hated the bastard with a passion too.
