With so many of the less-raunchy gay social networking sites going out of business in the past few years, I'm glad RealJock is here. Let's show some love.

What do you like about RJ? What makes you spend so many hours of every day here? (Loser.) icon_wink.gif What tips and tricks have you discovered that make your RJ experience better?

What do you think RJ could do to improve? What would make RJ even better?

P.S. If you're here, you must like something. Please don't post a negative comment unless you also have something positive to say as well.

    I'll get the party started:

One thing I like is that, although there is quite a bit of trolling on this site, it is less intense than I've seen elsewhere. Is that because there are alert moderators?

This site also seems to have more thoughtful comments in the fora than I'm accustomed to. Better quality of guys here? Nothing wrong with being silly, but I like to learn something from time to time.

I also like that you can use HTML in your profile, which is good for creative types.

    However:

I wish "Track This" would work. It doesn't seem to have any effect at all. It would be nice to be able to follow an interesting thread without having to check it every time.

I would like to see the "terms of use" enforced uniformly. However, I have yet to come across a site that does that.

Some of us have made these comments before. Mine have included praising the high level of intelligence of many of the members. And also the wide range of expertise & experience. Somebody will almost always have personal knowledge of a topic. My late Mother always told me to associate with people who know MORE than I do, not less, in the hope of learning from them, and benefiting from their greater knowledge & skills.

I'd like to see some kind of user archive or library system by topics, with a good search system. For instance, guys often ask about vacationing here in South Florida. I've answered that question a dozen times or more, and wish I could just reference an archive entry.

I suppose I should create my own offline folder from which I can copy & paste links to threads I've answered. But better if a guy could just go to the library on his own without having to post a question thread and wait for answers to start dribbling in, or having to scroll through an old thread that may number over 100 posts.

Yeah, Art_Deco, that actually gives me an idea for another feature. RJ currently allows you to see, from a person's profile, what topics they've posted to. It would be an improvement if clicking on the link took you to their first comment in the thread, since some threads go on for many pages. Easy to implement.

RJ has taught me the correct way to take a sphincter pic !!

..Before I'd send my sphincter pics to guys and i'd get blocked, or reported, or threatened..some guy called P.E.T.A. ..another called Animal Control..
    Whatever !!

..I have met some really cool folks or RJ.. I met one guy in RL..but he's a real nincummpoop !,, I hope he gets strangled by his sagging nuts!!

.. I love the threads.. It's interesting to hear perspectives from peeps of different backgrounds..It's also interesting to really see first hand..we are not that much different!

OP..Mr, Shortbutsweet.. I just sent you my latest sphincter pic..This is after the anal bleaching.. Yeeeaaaahhh !!

    I call it.."Jupiter Rising"..
    Enjoy !!

Came for the info. Stayed for the drama.

But in a way it represents the utopian ideal (!) of what an online community represents - a chance to interact and even meet with people you otherwise would never have an opportunity to meet. An opportunity to be yourself (or someone entirely different) without the consequences of doing so in the real world. A way of learning and appreciating different perspectives without having to agree with them, or change your opinions, a whit.

I've seen that feature on other social websites.

Trolls can be amusing sometimes, but you have to be way more clever than this.

southbeach1500 saidWhat do I like about RJ? The endless well of entertainment that is Art Deco: You never know which RJ member he's going to lash out at next, or if he's going to go on a tear against an entire religion (Muslims) or an entire nation of people (the Irish).

Or maybe he'll just post something about his hostility to handicapped lesbians, one of whom he blocked from using a handicapped parking space.

Please continue on the subject of Art_Deco blocking the handicapped lesbian from the handicapped parking space.

I like the exacting standards of RealJock, and the balance of low-brow and high-brow topics.

I've only been on RJ for about 2 months now, and I really enjoy it. This is a great site for guys to be able to rant/vent/share/meet/etc... I've seen everything from fitness tips, to random talking, to sex, to guys helping other guys on coming out.

This place is a resource for those of all ages -- from teens to guys in their 60s.

the only thing I would like to see? that if I clicked on a thread, it would automatically go to the last page; not click into it...then have to click "last".

thanks guys, for making this a great experience for me thus far.

Long before I started posting here, I would occasionally google some gay related topic or issue and RJ was always one of the first sites to come up. There is always a lot of great first-hand experience here (sometimes on topics that are not commonly discussed elsewhere).

Also, spending time here makes me want to make more gay friends and expand my social circle icon_biggrin.gif

I came when I was 17 and saw the good looking men. I've stayed because well, some of the guys on here are pretty awesome and I've made some great in-life friends.

One of the best gay support sites out there and certainly the best when I started participation in 2007. The fitness pointers are helpful regardless of whether straight or gay. Have made a number of great friends here. Excellent site!

All right, I've taken into account all your responses so far, and it's official. The new tag line for RJ is: "Come for the abs, stay for the gabs."

Runner up: "Come for the abfab, stay for the confab."

RJ is by far the best gay site on the internet. I like that it has the "health & fitness" slant, the forums are entertaining and often-times informative, it's not as trashy as say Manhunt or Adam4Adam, and best of all it's got a really high level of quality guys as members. Kudos to the owners for creating a beautiful site that has also managed to remain FREE OF CHARGE to its membership.

Reels! We're talking about reels? I love reels!

Oh, it's slang, not an ID reference.

    Slinks away in disappointment.

I like to rub a garlic clove on the taint so it smells like I'm in a pizzeria.

Why do I think yours smells like apples and cupcakes?
