Not quite sure what planet Jeremy Irons is on with this article. Totally bizarre comments if you ask me!

Wouldn't that require the fathers to first divorce their gay sons mothers? Then proudly proclaim their own gayness and hope against all hope that A- their sons are very accepting gay and B- their gay sons not only find their newly out fathers sexually and deeply damaged mental midgets attractive, but also worthy of marriage?
The entire concept is as crazy as the republican line that once gay marriage is legal the next logical step is allowing anyone to marry farm animals. This is just insane thinking done always by insane people.

What he said kinda makes sense... No inbreeding and an easy way to pass financial legacy without paying taxes. Of course he is looking at it as a financial maneuver, not a father and son in sexual love situation.

Of course, it is better if you read the whole article in the Hungtinton Post and not this edited-for-controversy one.

Well, we know what he spends his time thinking about!

Not paying Taxes! Isn't illegal to marry direct relative anywayz?

Jeez, what people would do to save their family name and reputations... or not?

Dear Jeremy, are straight men marrying their daughters? Mothers marrying their sons? Your sound reasoning means that straight marriage must be eradicated with urgent expediency.

I have NEVER understood why people take the advice and opinions of those who create fantasy, those who play-act like pre-pubeescent children, those who create make believe for their living, as creditable facts that should be taken seriously and emulated by their fans icon_exclaim.gif

The stupidity spewed out by this (so callled) "serious" actor just reinforces my low opinion of the "logic" of actors.

So gay marriage would mean men can marry their sons? But doesn't that mean in straight marriage men can marry their daughters?icon_eek.gif

Jeremy Irons is almost as quotable as Karl Lagerfeld when it comes to this kind of shit and for that I love him. He must be a really interesting guy to have a convo with.

That said I wouldn't take any of this seriously. Methinks Jeremy just likes being provocative.

This is why the government should not be in the marriage business. Everyone should be allowed one partner for tax and benefits purposes. If that partner should happen to be your child, your aunt, your uncle, your niece, your nephew, your next door neighbor, then so be it.

You can be married in any church you desire to marry in; however, it wouldn't carry any specific legal partner benefits unless you both mutual file each other as partners with the government.

Under this concept it would be possible for two people to be married in their church yet claim partner benefits with someone entirely different from their religious spouse, of course with the express written consent of the other spouse as I was required to do if I claimed a beneficiary to my 401k and pension.

Actually, for me, there used to be a significant advantage in that OPPORTUNITY. icon_wink.gif Young Master David need not worry of that need in his present world.

I do wonder. I've liked Irons as an actor since I first saw him in a 1981 TV mini-series version of Brideshead Revisted. Clearly this is not acceptable, and I'd like to hear a reason for his statement.

Well if you look at it from this way...some guys who want to play with younger guys are old enough to be their dad. 50+ ...not my personal cup of tea...But yeah, that guy's nuts

I'm okay with christans marrying livestock actually. They seem to want it so badly, I say let them have at it. What harm could it do?
