a while ago I found a great online video series on VBS.tv

    http://www.vbs.tv/video.php?id=1485308505

Its about plastic pollution, how our plastic, that we produce in MASSIVE quantities is being dumped into our water and what is happening to it.

Its broken down into 12 parts, starting from the crew boarding there boat to spend 12 days heading out to sea to check out a place called garbage island, which, if you've ever heard of it, brings in ideas of a massive floating amount of plastic..

However, that isn't the case, its a massive amount of plastic broken up floating over an even larger area of water, which is consummed by marine animals and leaches all sorts of nasty things into the water which are then absorbed by marine life..

Anyway, I thought it was facinating and reading GobB changing from plastic bottles to his own bottle, made me think of it and I thought some people here might be interested.

Plastics break down into smaller and smaller pieces and never really degrade into something that can be used by anything living for cellular processes. They end up in the food chain and we are all filled with them, many are highly estrogenic.
Many body and face scrubs, besides being in plastic containers contain plastic "microspheres" that are washed down drains and end up in the oceans. Microscopic plastic debris now outweighs and is hurting plankton and other microorganisms, which are at the base of food chains.
Pastics are important and often needed, but It should be taxed very high to encourage its return to a recycling center.
