The U.S. Collects Less In Taxes Than All But Two Industrialized Countries

"Citizens for Tax Justice, however, compared levels of taxation in 2010 in the other industrialized countries that make up the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and found that the U.S. not only collects far less in tax revenues than the average OECD country, but that it also collects less in taxes as a share of its economy than all but two other OECD nations, as the chart at right shows."

Interesting how we also have one of the largest wealth gaps and do not have universal healthcare. Even Korea, which collects slightly more in taxes, has universal health insurance (not free, but cheaper) and it schools are relatively okay (I wouldn't send my kid to a Korean school, too stressful, but they are getting educated).

On the surface, it's just a graph, but there are some very interesting facts that lie hidden. A fact that is very easy for me to elucidate, is Switzerland versus the U.S. Note that Switzerland takes more of its' GDP than the U.S. in taxes, yet when income is realized through Switzerland and not the U.S., tax payment to the Swiss government is at a 23 point lower rate than the payer would pay to the U.S. government in the upper income bracket. (That's a 34% lower tax bill in my canton.)

Why? A huge number of so called U.S. tax payers pay nothing in taxes. They are simply beneficiaries of wealth transfer. Furthermore, to speak of a liberal dream, the minimum wage in Switzerland is equivalent to approximately $50,000 U.S. depending on the exchange rate on a given day.

Fact is, America carries a tremendous amount of "fat" in its' society from lazy do nothings who should never have been granted disability based on real health, to ignorant sloths with IQs of 70 who don't work but steal for a living. And guess what? America then suffers the cost of carrying those sloths in prison.

America is one fucked up place.
