I´m from very secular country with socialistic past - church had no power and comunist focused on homosexuality of individual only if they wanted to blackmail him or her.

Today the nearest ,,homosexuality cure center" is in Slovakia, Ruzomberok city I gues and is unofficial. If You tell to somebody You want to cure sexual orientation, he´ll look on You like on idioticon_biggrin.gif

So my question is, have You ever decided or been forced to ,,cure"? With what organization do You have experince with that? Scientology, christian church, islam, psychotherapy...

And what was the moment when You said to all, fuck You pricks, I´ll live with pesron I´ll choose and it will be a man?

    No.

What exactly do they do to 'cure' the homosexual at this center you refer to, pray tell?

Anything other than the insidious mental health damage that they encourage at all the other known ones, or...?

No, but my mom tried for years to have me go to counseling to "turn straight."

And people wonder why I have very little respect for her, even though she "pretends" to love me as I am. icon_wink.gif

Some religious fanatic and doctor in one person ,,cures" with praying and electrotherapy. I have it from rumors from my Slovakian friend.

Results are mostly the same - they force the gay man to marry and later he cheats his wife with guys. And because there is ,, no need" to use condom in marriage, the wife recognizse her husbands cheating after some diagnose...

Married guys are the most unresponsible and risky behaving people I have ever known.

I have seen documentaries on straight cures, seminars , workshops and camps..

...Let me say based on what iv'e seen... Well scary..

..The counselors seem to introduce "heterosexual ideology" without addressing gay issues ..
..They convince men they are cured after a period of time...and toss them out in the real world ..!

I wouldn´t like to be a wife which finds that guy. I´ve seen one pastor in action. He was such lady. When he instructed that poor guy how to behave with a woman, I was realy laughing.

I've never gone through a "cure" treatment before, but I'll probably have problems dealing with religous family. Who knows what they'll think.

Hmmm no, but I'm tempted to go to one. I really want to be cured.

Ha ha lol only kidding icon_smile.gif If I wasn't gay anymore I'd probably spend less time at the gym and my bedroom would be devoid of Diptyque candles. Noooo!

However, think of the money you could make blackmailing the people who run these places! They're all gay!

My parents tried at least 2 things when I was 12-13, c. 1961-62:

    - Hyponosis by a physician. I remember going to the sessions, but not what was said to me while under hypnosis. I was told at the time it was to help me deal with my "nervousness". Only decades later did I learn the real object was to cure the gay. I don't know whether it was a factor in my delayed recognition of being gay (I didn't suspect at the time of the sessions), and a cause of my having a kind of macho streak beginning in my mid-teens, that resulted in my interest in motorcycling, strenuous outdoor activities, attending a trade school to become an auto mechanic, and joining the Army.

    - My parents bought a reel-to-reel tape recorder at the same time, and had me record my voice for playback at home. Even at that young age I recognized I sounded horribly sissy & girly (we'd say faggy today), and without being told I knew I had to make my voice more masculine, which I did. (Today it's gone back to being more faggy, and when I really want to camp it up, sounds 1960 New Jersey without my consciously trying icon_eek.gif )

Thanks goodness no. I see trying to change someone's sexuality as equivalent to trying to remove one's desire to masterbate. You can shame someone into not masterbating or not having a homosexual experience but you can't remove the desire. You may even be able to develop your bisexual side by having a relationship with a woman but as many gay and bi married men will testify it does not rid them of their homosexual desires. On the one hand, when we acknowledge and even embrace our carnal side we are better able to see it for what it is, including the limitation that it has in making us feel fulfilled. When we are in constant conflict with these desires and feel obliged to repress them, the urges can overpower us, destroy our self esteem and in some cases ruin our life. Just ask Larry Craig and the many other repressed homophobes.

I know that. Many don´t yet. It´s interesting to see their way how to accept it.
