When I lived in Germany, I participated in a few camping events organized by gay leather clubs. And having Nutella for breakfast was an absolute must - the leather queens would have rebelled without it. Now, with five tons of Nutella, how many leather queens can you feed?

It was also popular in northern Italy / southern Austria. Europe in general does not have peanut butter. They generally dislike the combination of sweet and salty...

Yeah, peanut butter (in particular the chunky variety) is difficult to get in Europe, and peanut butter an jelly sandwiches would be considered gross. Nutella may indeed the substitute that better fits the local taste. And besides, it's hard to say no to anything with chocolate.

I love nutella, I literally eat it out of the jar.
Amongst other things I also multi layer ice cream with nutella.
Nutella is also great with thick slices of toasted raisin bread.
Tastes great smothered all over pancakes with sliced pieces of banana or strawberries.
Have churros but find it's too boring? Just put nutella over the whole thing!
This also works with plain donuts or cinnamon donuts.
Marshmallows and nutella are a great combo!

You could have a whole restaurant full of nutella recipes!
Maybe that's what those thieves were doing.
