Lots of threads pertaining to things that happen at "the gym": eye contact, straights, shower room, locker room etc. This thread is for the guys that keep active in other ways, but don't go to a gym. I hate gyms. I prefer to hike or work hard doing something else. Obviously I'm not ripped, but I don't think I want to put time into that when I'm happy as is.

Who else doesn't "do the gym"? Why not, and how do you keep physically active?

I don't work out at the gym any more
I have my own workout room at home with free weights, treadmill, stair stepper, dip and pullup rack .... does that count?

He ties me to the shower rod with his jock straps, after I've ironed all his uniforms--usually need a nap afterward...

Do you make eye contact at any time, and if so, for how long?
Also, do you keep your towel wrapped around your waist or do you just go nude?

I took a 3 month leave from the gym because there was this guy, I swear was eye balling me like no other! not only in the fitness area, but also in the locker room, and the upper levels of the gym.

So I work out at home, for now. I dance also, so that helps.

    I can't afford a gym, do I count?

I just have some free weights, do pilates, and run a lot.

I just do calisthenics. I believe that body weight is sufficient if you know how to go about it. I haven't exactly reached my goal of being defined, but I'm getting there slowly but surely

Never stepped foot in a gym once. The last picture is actually older as I've progressed much more. I've simply done bodyweight and gymnastic exercising. All self-taught. I'm aiming for the 165lb mark one day, but I know with my current depression and eating habits that I will not be able to meet it. Soon enough though.

I know nobody asked, but my normal routine is like this.

    Warmup
    Dynamic Stretches
    L-sit holds (x reps until 60s)
    Planche Progression
    Handstand Holds for 60s
    Pull-ups w/ 40 lb weight vest on me 3 x 5
    Table rows 5 x 8
    Psuedo Planche Pushups 3 x 12
    Handstand Pushup Progression 3 x 5
Barbell Squats (max #120 at the moment)
    Sprints/Biking 10 miles

Wow, what kind of self-respecting gay guy doesn't have a gym membership?

I, myself, have two gym memberships, and most of my gold and platinum card gay friends also have several gym memberships.

Where does one socialize, gossip and pick up guys without a gym membership? This is such a novel and foreign concept to me.

Well, in the literal sense of the word, I suppose the only real gymnasiums these days are the bath houses.

Generally, I don't go to the gym because I don't enjoy working out in that environment and with weights. I prefer to run outside and go hiking, though I do some ab work at home and weights a few times a week for arm stuff (push ups don't seem to be enough).

I guess I don't like the vibe I get there and I hate being cooped up inside if I could be working out outside. Clearly though, I'm not ripped either, but I'm fit and healthy, so I'm pretty happy, icon_smile.gif.

Hmmm, and yea, I don't get any of the 'action' many guys seem to get at the gym or the social aspect, but I have other activities for socializing and I'm not really looking for action these days either.

Other than photo/film-shoots, I have never set foot in a gym in My life.

I can't get into the gym scene. To me it just seems like a sorry answer to a sedentary, automobile-oriented society - kinda like a human rat cage.

Why in the world give someone else so much power over you?
