I just saw it last night.
Sure, it had its " cheese" and "over the top" scenes, a mash of " The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw, Friday the 13th type gore... but it was fun.

I'm a horror fan, and while many horror films these days fall short... I enjoyed it.

Yeah I agree. There were parts that were kind of obvious but I definitely had fun watching it. Some parts definitely creeped me out though

I had too high of expectations going in. I enjoyed it but I thought it could have been better. Still definitely prefer the original to this one.

you cant compare this one to any of the classic original ones because they are completely different animals. You wont be bored in the new one tho. Not. At. All.

How does it compare to the original? I kind of enjoyed that one, although I was a less discriminating viewer when I first saw it.

I may be going out on a limb here, but from what the trailer shows, it seems a lot about gore - which I dislike to the max. I'm an avid for horror films though. Psychological terror is what gets me the most - blood just gets me unconfortable.

I thought the trailers looked predictable and super-cheesy. And I LOVE a good horror film. #nointerest #pass

i saw it last night with two girls, i have to say the effects and the graphics was more like a reality, it goes further than any mainstream picture I can think of, i did enjoyed it a lot, but my friends were really scared all the movie grapping my shirt at some points or secreeming at another, also they did not like the way from where she was possessed.

I enjoyed it for what it was + also ALL the practical non-cgi gore splatter effects!!!

However, nowhere as great, atmospheric , scary, creative as original.

It was a much better remake than that bullshit Nightmare On Elm Street remake from 2010. Bleh!

    Oh there are tons! icon_smile.gif

    The House Of The Devil

    The Innkeepers

    Insidious

Rob Zombie's The Lords Of Salem (& yes his new movie eschews gore/splatter for old-school slow-burn gorgeously-shot 70's horror style cinema)

I have not seen the original but I will soon because it is on netflix.

One movie that I definitely wanted to see was the Innkeepers! That looked creepy but The Conjuring is absolutely the one I want to see... just not alone unlike Evil Dead! icon_redface.gif

It was so cheesy and predictable that it made me laugh the whole time. The huge amount of gore was disturbing, but I don't think it was that scary.
