"I voted against the [anti-gay marriage] resolution. I did, it just wasn't very vocal," Kabel said after the [RNC] meeting. "It's hard to hear in here."

So why didn't Kabel, who last month delivered a speech to thousands of pro-same-sex marriage demonstrators in front of the Supreme Court advocating for legal same sex marriage, speak up?

"It's not my style," he said. "I prefer to do it one on one as opposed to grandstanding. I'm not into grandstanding."

Ummm... so his speaking in front of the Supreme Court building is not grandstanding, but having his vote properly recorded is? He could address thousands outdoors, but couldn't be heard to 156 inside? And his failure to have his "no" vote captured does allow RNC Chairman Priebus to do his own grandstanding about how the anti-marriage vote was "unanimous" when it apparently wasn't. Did Kabel also have his fingers crossed behind his back when he whispered his opposition? icon_rolleyes.gif

To be fair, bravery so often depends on the situation.

In front of his fellow gay Republicans he felt the courage to speak his convictions.

Gay Republicans in online forums can also be bold in declaring their right to love whom they choose. They can be truly inspiring.

But the sight of a hetero Republican can turn them into mute little girls who just want to please Daddy.

    Good little girls don't grandstand.
