Awkward GAY Moment!

OK, we're out to my husband's family, but I still think we shouldn't be graphic or risqué about our private life. I broke that rule today.

We were having supper with his brother & sister, plus a cousin and a family friend. He mentioned that during his illness I got behind in the laundry, because I declined our cleaning lady's offer to do it for us. I explained I dislike anyone touching my dirty clothes, been that way since I was 12.

My husband quipped: "Bob doesn't like anyone touching his underwear."

I looked right at him and replied cattily: "Yeah, and especially when I'm still IN them."

I saw the surprise on their faces, and realized I had given an answer I'd use in the company of our gay friends for a laugh, but maybe not suitable for his straight family. UH-OH! icon_redface.gif

You ever let something slip you shouldn't with straight family or friends? Not that what I said was super bad, but in that group it was bad enough. icon_sad.gif

    That's funny!
When I'm out with my dad and a guy walks by I look at my dad and say, "did you see that ass". It's funny bacause I always take him by surprise. His face is priceless.

I'm sure it may have felt awkward at the time - but it does sound like a good "sit-com" gag line icon_smile.gif

Um... I dunno. My generation has been fairly rude and explicit all along.

The only comparable situation that comes to mind was when a (scary) female NASA program manager was going through some field logs and asked... "What do these entries mean where the operator increased one RCH?"

Nobody said anything. Finally, I said something like, "It's the smallest observable adjustment. It's a measurement slightly beyond the resolution of the measurement system." icon_rolleyes.gif Now it's probably in a manual or something.

n/m I guess that would only be a gay moment if a woman said it.

My mom tried to get snarky with me once and dropped a quip about her and dad's sex life. I responded with the beginning of a detailed description of how I like to be teabagged by my husband. About 4 words in, and she cut me off, never to breach the subject again.

Don't tread where you're not comfortable going, mom. My social boundaries are much broader than yours.

Lol. That is a funny situation. I'm definitely going to try it with my straight cousins who are always hollering at girls. To the OP, I can't help but laugh a little reading what you wrote. I think you just got caught off guard. That was a witty response though I must say.

No! the funnier retort would have gone like this:

My husband quipped: "Bob doesn't like anyone touching his underwear."

I looked right at him and replied cattily: "Not unless I'm still in them!."

Yea try it. I do it to my cousins but, they don't fall for it as much as my dad, or his face expressions. Funny stuff.

They'll get over it. Based off what you said, it doesn't even sound bad.
Just like other posters on this thread, I've said much worse stuff to my parents, family and friends.

I once talked about me giving oral sex to my mother, to which she cut me off. Like one of the other posters said, don't step into a territory if you can't handle it.

Keep being yourself, screw other people, if they can't get that, then they don't truly appreciate you as a person.

Or did she cut you off 'cause you were doing it wrong? icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I'll be more impressed when guys comment to their dad about another guy's bulge or package. Checking out "a nice ass" is still too hetero to be really challenging. Glance at a guy's crotch, lick your lips, wink at your dad, then I'll be impressed that you're really pushing boundaries. icon_biggrin.gif

It's part of our country's Puritan roots that sex is a taboo subject. I don't think what you said was that bad - I thought it was funny and it's not like it was in a business environment.

Yep, the non-family guest. She's mid-80s and giggled a little. I've known her for years. As for drinks, she brought a bottle of Washington State Riesling especially for me, a label she knows I love. We finished it together, nobody else had any. icon_wink.gif

Mrap saidPeople still use cleaning ladies nowadays? :p

Oh, sure, very common. We use one because we're both disabled, a lot of bending & reaching we can't do, and I can't get down to do the tile floors at all, otherwise I'd do it myself and save the money. But she just comes in once a week on Fridays, before the weekend when we're more likely to have dinner guests or other friends over.

But the lady I mentioned above, who laughed at little at my blurted comment, has had the same housekeeper for 35 years. Just by day, she doesn't live there, very few people have live-in help anymore, but she comes 5 days a week, and on weekends as needed for parties.
